🚀 Why isn’t this athlete projecting effectively?
Many coaches would look at this sprint and immediately prescribe more strength work.
More force. More power. More pushing.
But what if force isn’t the limiting factor?
When we analysed this acceleration, the key attractor wasn’t Force — it was Perception.
Watch the hips during the first few steps.
The athlete isn’t effectively displacing the hips horizontally. Instead of projecting forward into acceleration, they’re remaining centred over their base of support.
This isn’t necessarily a strength problem.
It’s a movement solution problem.
The athlete’s perception of the task is encouraging them to push down rather than project forward. As a result, the hips never fully orientate into acceleration, and valuable displacement is lost with every step.
The interesting part?
When perception changes, athletes often discover a more effective movement solution without being told exactly what positions they need to hit.
✅ Better hip displacement
✅ Improved projection
✅ More effective acceleration mechanics
Sometimes the answer isn’t creating more force.
It’s helping the athlete perceive the task differently.
