It’s song time! 🎶💦

Songs are always a big part of our Parent & Baby classes. They make the lessons fun, keep our littlest swimmers engaged and help them become familiar with different movements and water cues.

We’re not promising the songs won’t be stuck in your head for the rest of the day though! 😂

📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE – PLEASE READ

Just a quick update for our swimmers regarding lessons and sessions this week:

❌ Wednesday & Thursday evening lessons – CLOSED
✅ Wednesday daytime – running as normal
❌ Thursday – closed all day & no Women Only Swims
✅ Friday – everything back open and running as normal

Please make a note if any of the above affects you, and feel free to give us a message if you’re unsure about anything.

🏊‍♂️ A little insight into how we teach backstroke at DCY!

When learning backstroke, it’s not just about getting from one end of the pool to the other, we want our swimmers to build good technique from the very beginning.

One of the things we focus on is that backstroke kick:

🦵 Keep those legs nice and long
💦 Kick from the hips, rather than bending too much at the knees
🦶 Keep the ankles relaxed and toes pointed
⚡ Use small, quick, continuous kicks
⬆️ Keep the body high and streamlined in the water

It can take a little practice to get everything working together but once it clicks, it makes such a difference!

Strong foundations = stronger swimmers. Message us today to enquire about lessons.

Take a little peek 👀 inside our Parent & Child class with Mr Josh!

There are lots of songs, movement, play and of course, plenty of splashing. Our littlest swimmers get to enjoy the water with their parent or grandparent right beside them. 💦

As most of you will know, our teaching team is going through a few changes, with Miss Kyra and Miss Jess leaving us. We wanted to update you all on who will be teaching throughout the week moving forward.

As you’ll see, Miss Charlie will be around much more! She’ll initially be shadowing Miss Bryony, Josh and Miss Jess, giving her time to get to know the children and classes before taking over her new sessions.

On Fridays, Charlie will shadow Miss Jess until she leaves and will then continue working alongside Josh during the handover.
