๐ต๐น COIMBRA, HERE WE COME ๐ต๐น
This Friday, our U14s board a plane to Portugal for one of European
youth rugby's most respected events โ the 26th Torneio Memorial JP,
held annually in Coimbra in honour of Joรฃo Pedro Leite, a young AAC
Coimbra player who passed away aged just 18.
For 17 boys, 5 coaches and a travelling group of parents, this is the
moment all those wet Sunday mornings, muddy training sessions, long
bus rides to away fixtures and rugby festivals at Byng Road have
been building toward.
Our three fixtures:
๐ต CDUL (Lisbon) โ Portugal's most decorated rugby club, reigning
Torneio JP champions, and the club that produces the bulk of
Portugal's age-grade internationals.
โซโช AAC Coimbra โ our hosts, the only top-flight Portuguese club
outside Lisbon, with a youth pipeline ranked among the best
in central Portugal.
๐ตโช Sport Clube do Porto โ a proud Porto club at the heart of
northern Portuguese rugby's revival.
Three brilliant clubs. Three different challenges. One BERFC.
