TCR delivers a wide range of projects, activities and support across Barnard Castle and the wider Teesdale area — from youth work, outdoor activities and creative programmes to wellbeing initiatives and services that help people stay connected across rural communities. Local community is at the heart of everything we do.
This is an opportunity to play a genuine role in shaping the future of an organisation that makes a real difference to people's lives across Teesdale. Our Board of Trustees oversees governance, strategic planning and financial stewardship, ensuring TCR continues to fulfil its mission and deliver lasting benefit to the communities we serve.
The Role
As a Trustee you will:
Contribute to strategic direction and long-term planning
Help ensure TCR meets its legal, financial and governance responsibilities
Bring your skills, networks and experience to bear on decisions that directly impact our community
Time Commitment
Trustees attend Board meetings as required (usually online and at least quarterly, with additional meetings as needed), an annual in-person AGM, and ad hoc commitments depending on organisational need, which can be shared among the Board.
Skills We Are Looking For
We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in:
Marketing or communications
Fundraising
IT and digital
Finance
HR or related fields
Prior trustee experience is not required. We are looking for people with sound judgement, a willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to community life in Teesdale. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including current users and volunteers of TCR services. Building a diverse Board is a priority.
