Sherwood Forresters Longbow Archery Club

Sherwood Forresters Longbow Archery Club SFLAC is a longbow only archery club whose aim is to promote the use and enjoyment of traditional ELB Why are we different from other archery clubs?

SFLAC is a longbow only archery club whose aim is to promote the use and enjoyment of traditional English longbows and warbows. We shoot in the grounds of Barlborough Hall, Barlborough, Derbyshire, J30 M1. We are two minutes from the Motorway and we are ideally situated for longbow archery in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. The area used by the Club on a day-to-day basis is in excess of 12 acres of rough grass and trees including a small wood, ideal for Roving Mark and Field Shoots. Our target field is approximately 50 yards by 180 yards (plus an extra 150 yards overshoot) and is mown every week. We only shoot English longbows. Whilst most other clubs seem to shoot only in one or maybe two disciplines such as target or field archery, we ask what is wrong with other styles of archery? At Sherwood Forresters we shoot target, clout, roving, field and all forms of archery. We like to think we have put the fun back into archery and that variety is the spice of life as they say!

We held The Barlborough Arrow shoot today, one year and one day since we were unceremoniously booted off our Barlborough Hall School grounds.

Forgot to take a picture of the target layout but basically one target each at 60, 80 and 100 yds with a "trophy" for the best arrow on each target. Fortunately Rik has come up with a photo of the target layout, added to the images.

Brief break at half time for people to partake of drinks and home made Biscoff millionaire's shortbread.

Once we had completed the shoot we had a BBQ, (n.b. a gas BBQ with a fire extinguisher on hand). Organised brilliantly again by Dave W. Choice of burgers and hot dogs. See images for further comments.

Hi Folks, Robert posted this in our WhatsApp group, I thought it deserved greater coverage. We're slowly getting to grips with our new venue. Quite a good turnout on Saturday

For anyone who may be interested, I have decided that I personally will not be going to SFLAC on Saturday. It is too damnably hot and there is little if any shade at the farm.

Anyone who does go please be careful! Hat, plenty of sunscreen and gallons of fluids. Stay safe and healthy people.

Cheers Steve J.

‘Arrows vs Armour’ is back! This time we have an armoured soldier of 1450 in our sights. All of him. But not just one archer shooting at our target, a whole ...

This is a long shot, a chap by the name of Andrew Kenning contacted the club through me with regard to Beginner's Courses etc., just after we got slung off the Barlborough School grounds and we had to stop doing them. Unfortunately I have lost his contact details and can't get in touch with him to tell him that we will shortly be re-starting Beginner's courses, etc. So, Andrew, if you're still out there and following this page please get in touch again.
