How did your morning start?
Mine was a gradual awareness that the alarm was going off and a groggy realisation that I was completely exhausted. We all have those days, right?
Today I was signed up for a salsa workshop - 3hrs of dancing and working on body movement. I considered not going because I’m all about being realistic and looking after myself. I’m telling my clients how important it is to focus on self-care. But here’s the thing, wellbeing isn’t as simple as one solution to fix all.
I might have gotten more rest and sleep if I hadn’t gone. But wellbeing is about more than that. I also needed:
💃Exercise - and dance is fun exercise!
💕Friendship - social connection is soooo important for wellbeing
💪Challenge - dance workshops aren’t just a physical workout but also a brain test too
🏆Accomplishment - you can see in the photo a group of people very pleased to have nailed the shine we spent the morning working on.
And now, I’m home and able to rest with an extra boost to my wellbeing and firmly committing to an early night and restful sleep.
I talk a lot about wellbeing and performance and the two being a balance - last week I used up a lot of my energy for work and travel, so this week I know I have to prioritise my wellbeing even more.
