Bangor Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of Bangor overlooking Belfast lough and the Antrim Hills. It is a Private Members Club with upwards of 1000 playing and social members. Bangor Golf Club was founded in 1903 with a nine hole golf course.

Today is National Thank a Greenkeeper Day, and it’s the perfect moment to recognise the incredible work our greens team do for Bangor Golf Club.

In all conditions — early mornings, wind, rain, frost, sunshine and everything in between — they work tirelessly to present a course that every member can be proud to call ours. Their graft, skill and attention to detail are the reason Bangor GC looks and plays the way it does.

To mark the occasion, this weekend’s competition has been renamed the “Thank a Greenkeeper” competition in recognition of all their hard work throughout the year.

We’ll also have:

A collection box in the Pro Shop for anyone who wishes to contribute to the Greenkeepers’ Welfare Fund.

Two Nearest the Pin competitions, with 50% of the proceeds going directly to the welfare fund.

To our greens team — thank you.
For your commitment, your pride in the course, and everything you do behind the scenes to make Bangor GC what it is.

The Putting Cup was played yesterday in drizzly weather, which did not deter the 24 members taking part in the 18-hole matchplay format.Helen Thompson was the winner with Mandy McEvoy as runner-up. What a wonderful gathering of our past Lady Captains — from the most recent leaders to those who first paved the way over 45 years ago. It was a joy to see so many familiar faces, share stories, and relive cherished memories.

A successful round of golf set the tone for a lively lunch filled with delicious food, laughter, and, most importantly, the friendship and camaraderie that make these occasions so special.

A fantastic day celebrating our Lady Captains, past and present — a tradition we’re proud to honour and continue. 💛🏌🏼‍♀️
