The annual RUYC Women’s Regatta was held on Sunday 30th August 2026 and once again it was sponsored by Healthodontic, a brilliant whole human dentistry!

Two races, officiated by RUYC stalwarts Jim Coffey and Colin Loughead and supported by our regular Battery and Safety Boat teams, had sailors race a windward/leeward style course from our Battery to Mark 4 and back. With light winds Race 1 saw one lap but during Race 2 winds built and sailors were given two laps which allowed all of the yachts to stretch their legs.

With thanks to Healthodontic and McWilliam Bags all helms were treated to a McWilliam wash bag and all women crew members to dry bags and phone cases.

A huge thank you to Fiona Hicks who has organised the last three Women’s Regattas, encouraging more women to get involved in the brilliant sailing that we have here at RUYC! ⛵️

3rd (and 1st all female crew): Icicle

What a great day for Healthodontic Ladies Races. Loads of women out on the water showing what we can do. Loads of folk back at the club to help celebrate - fun on the water and ashore. Let’s thank everyone who make it happen at RUYC, battery crew and RIB support and see you back next year.

The sun is out (at the moment) and light winds forecast so could be a great day for the Healthodontic Women’s Regatta at RUYC today. Looks like we could have 10 big boats plus one dinghy on the course. Refreshment and music after racing.

RUYC’s Emma and Leo Westhurst sail into the Topper record books!

The brother and sister duo have had a phenomenal summer of success in their Toppers this year. Emma Westhurst has become Female British Champion and she finished 20th overall at the World Championships with brother Leo finishing third at the World Championships in France and third overall at the British Nationals!

Not every club has a British Champion in their ranks nor a sailor who has had a podium finish at a World Championship but Royal Ulster Yacht Club can proudly say that this summer they have both!
