Mae hi bron yn amser i Gyngres Gwyddbwyll Flynyddol Rhyl! Fydd y gystadleuaeth yn rhedeg o Ddydd Gwener Medi 18 i Ddydd Sul Medi 20 yn Neuadd Rhyl.
Mae’n Gyngres dda a chyfeillgar bob tro. Mae llawer o chwaraewyr o’n clwb wedi cael eu profiad cyntaf o gystadleuaeth gwyddbwyll yna dros y blynyddoedd ac wedi mwynhau, felly faswn i’n hannog pawb sy’n chwarae neu sydd eisiau chwarae gwyddbwyll yn gystadleuol i ystyried cymerid rhan.

It’s Rhyl Congress time again! The event will be held next month from Friday September 18th to Sunday September 20th in Rhyl Town Hall.
It’s always a very well-run and friendly congress. Lots of players from our club have had their first experience of tournament chess there over the years and found it fun, so I would strongly recommend considering it if you play or would like to play competitive chess.

PENCAMPWYR CYNGHRAIR GWYNEDD/GWYNEDD LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Rydym yn Bencampwyr Cynghrair Gwynedd am yr ail flwyddyn yn olynol! Fe guron ni Bae Colwyn yng ngêm olaf y tymor i orffen gyda 7 pwynt yn gyfartal gyda nhw. Felly roedd yn rhaid ystyried canlyniadau'r gemau rhwng y ddau dîm (yr un fath a’r flwyddyn ddiwethaf) ac oherwydd roedden ni wedi ennill un gêm a’r un arall yn gyfartal, ni enillodd. Llongyfarchiadau a diolch o galon i bawb a chwaraeodd i ni, yn enwedig Chris a wnaeth job wych unwaith eto ar Fwrdd 1 yn ei dymor olaf fel aelod o Glwb Bangor.

We are Gwynedd League Champions for the second year running! We beat Colwyn Bay in our last game of the season to finish level with them on 7 points. So it was down to results between the two teams (as it was last year) and since we’d won one game against them and drawn the other, we have won the League. Huge thanks and congratulations to everyone who played, especially Chris who’s done another sterling job on Board 1 in his final season at the club.

Mae Sir Benfro wedi gweld cynydd o fwy na 200% yn nifer aelodau'r clybiau gwyddbwyll yn y 10 mis diwethaf.

Huge congratulations to all our players who took part in the Caernarfon Chess Congress over the weekend! Special mention to Chris who won the top group with 4.5/5 despite being the bottom seed and over 200 points below the two highest rated players.

In a tough group B, Inigo finished with a very respectable 2.5/5 which saw him take joint 3rd. In the C group Matt got 3/5 claiming joint second. Aidan got 2/5 and Sophie 1/5 which was a decent result for a first tournament, especially playing a group higher than expected. We’re very proud of you all.

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i’n holl chwaraewyr a chymerodd rhan yng Nghyngres Gwyddbwyll Caernarfon dros y penwythnos. Llongyfarchiadau yn enwedig i Chris a enillodd y grŵp cyntaf er ei fod ei gradd yn is na radd yr holl chwaraewyr arall a fwy na 200 o bwyntiau yn is na’r blaen chwaraewyr.

Yng ngrŵp B cryf, llwyddodd Inigo gael 2.5/5 a thrydydd le ar y cyd. Yng grwp C, cafodd Matt 3/5 ac ail le ar y cyd. Gorffennodd Aidan gyda 2/5 a Sophie 1/5 - canlyniad da mewn cystadleuaeth gyntaf ac yn chwarae grwp yn uchaf na ddisgwyliwyd. Rydym yn falch iawn ohonoch chi i gyd.

IMPORTANT We are temporarily moving venue. From this week (Wednesday, February 25th, 2026) we will be in Hirael Community Centre (picture below). This is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Bangor. There is parking very nearby on Beach Road.

This is a temporary move - we hope to be back in Penrhyn Hall in September.

PWYSIG Rydan ni'n newid feniw am sbel. O'r wythnos yma (Dydd Mercher, Chwefror 25, 2026) fyddyn ni yng Nghlwb Hirael (llun is law). Mae'r clwb tua chwarter awr ar droed o ganol Bangor. Mae 'na maes parcio yn agos iawn ar Beach Road.
