Bangor FC Academy would like to express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of our former under 16s goalkeeper Elgan Jones. Elgan was a very valued member of our academy and our first team and we are extremely saddened to hear the awful news. 💙⚽️

*ACADEMY STATEMENT*

The academy committee met last night and unfortunately it is with great sadness that the academy has no other option than to close its doors with immediate effect.

We have received no concrete evidence from the club or the FAW that the situation is going to improve and have received no support either.

We have worked tirelessly to try and sort the situation but ultimately it is out of our control. We are extremely disappointed in the way the club have dealt with this situation and haven't helped us in any way with the academy.

The academy can can only apologise that things haven't turned out better but please be assured we have done all we can.

The committee would like to thank the parents and coaches for your patience during these very sad and uncertain times and wish the players all the very best for the future.

ACADEMY STATEMENT

Following yesterday's announcement by the FAW that Bangor City FC has been suspended from ALL football activities until the players have been paid I can now confirm that this includes the Academy. The Academy board feel that this is harsh considering that the Academy is a separate company and is run completely separate at the request of the FAW. We are searching the possibility of a right to appeal and see this as temporary situation, however for the time being we have to comply with the FAW order.

Therefore we have no option but to cancel training until we receive further information. Please understand that this is not the fault of the Academy and hope everyone will bare with us. The Academy is totally committed to providing the best opportunity for every player and will do its upmost to acheive this. We hope to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
