We are a friendly, inclusive pétanque club rooted in the beautiful surroundings of Finzean. Our focus is on social play, community connection, and encouraging participation at all levels. While our core is recreational, we support and welcome players with competitive ambitions. Above all, we promote enjoyment, respect, and the spirit of the game.

Boulers o' Birse had the annual E. Alexander Cup competition today. Another fine day of petanque at Finzean! Usual supply of cakes and pastries. The competition was won by Doug, Jim was second and our youngest player Clem came in third. Great sociable competition between the fifteen attendees.

We had our inaugural Boulers o'Birse v Carnoustie Petanque Competition today. 22 participants played in a melee. One clear winner with three players in equal second. Well done to Charlotte who won and had never played petanque before! As usual the Boulers produced a fine spread of sandwiches, tarts and the ubiquitous prosecco. Really good day had by all.

Carnoustie Petanque Club held their open triples competition today for the 'Carnoustie Gala Petanque Trophy'. Great day out at a very nice location and very well organised. We will look forward to welcoming Carnoustie up at Boulers o'Birse for a game on the 8th August. Alan, Chris and Doug made up out triples team and ended up near to - but not quite on the podium!

Our Club Coaches Doug and Mary were invited along to Westhill Petanque Club (Rotary Club) to coach them in technique and gameplay as they are involved in a Rotary Club league in Aberdeenshire. They have two pistes at Westhill Park by the bowling green and tennis courts which are open for anyone to play on. Ten participants and here's hoping they win their next Rotary Game. They have been invited to come and play at Boulers o'Birse and we hope to see them at our piste soon.

Introduction to petanque session today for the Banchory Spinal Health Clinic team who were on their quarterly team meeting at Banchory Rugby Club. 10 staff had a very enjoyable few games coached by Doug and Mary. They also made a donation to Boulers o' Birse towards Youth Coaching. Great that we found a car park piste that worked perfectly!
