Sunday’s Result 🏏

In our first away game of the season Bamburgh lost by 45 runs to Newcastle Cricket Club!

Winning the toss and bowling first Bamburgh struggled to restrict the Newcastle batters throughout the innings. Despite Arthur Sutherland taking an early wickets, runs were a common theme of day. The highlight being Newcastle’s overseas hitting Neil for 5 sixes in a row, however he was then caught out in the 6th ball of the over! It wasn’t a day for the economy rate as the Newcastle batters ended up on 234-6 from their 35 overs with wickets coming from Neil Newcombe (3-48), Arthur Sutherland (2-40) and Finlay Allan (1-36).

In the second innings 234 was going to be a hard to reach, after a few early wickets a 50 partnership between Connor Leason (42) and Josh Wilson (64) steadied the ship. A middle order partnership of 46 between Wilson and Andrew Wright (32*) got Bamburgh firing in the right direction up to 157-6. However 3 wickets falling for 0 runs put an end to most hope, despite a 32 run 10 wicket partnership between Wright and Neil Newcombe, Bamburgh were bowled out for 189 in the 31st over.

A huge thanks to Newcastle for the hospitality and for what was a great game of cricket!

Another massive thanks to David Poole for scoring for Bamburgh!

Sunday’s Result 🏰🏏

In a match sponsored by Tree-Locate, Bamburgh beat East Rainton Cricket Club by 9 wickets.

After losing the toss and bowling first East Rainton got off to a lightening start finding themselves 91-1 after 10 overs. However thanks to some economical bowling from James Crooks (7 overs 3-18) and Andrew Wright (6 overs 1-12) the rate was reduced significantly. Finlay Allan (6 overs 2-17) and Neil Newcombe (4 overs 2-9) picked up a few more wickets later in the innings, restricting the batting side to 165-10 from their 35 overs.

In the second innings Bamburgh were in control from the off with openers Chris Hinchcliffe (47) and Connor Leason (50*) getting in on the runs and building a solid platform. After the openers departed Callum Hindhaugh (39*) and Matt Brown (22*) scored some fast runs towards the end of the innings chasing down the total in the 31st over!
