JUNE IS MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH MONTH

Every minute, somewhere in the world, a man loses his life to su***de.

Behind every statistic is a son, a dad, a brother, a partner, a friend.

Someone who was loved.
Someone who mattered.
Someone who may have felt they had nowhere to turn.

At Bamber MHFC, we believe that talking matters.

A conversation won't solve every problem, but it can be the first step towards getting through one.

This month, we want to encourage every man reading this to:

🤝 Check in on a mate.
📱 Send that message you've been putting off.
☕ Arrange that brew.
⚽ Come and join a session.
🗣️ Speak up if you're struggling.

You don't need to be at breaking point to reach out.

Bamber MHFC was built on the belief that nobody should have to face life's challenges alone. Whether you come for the football, the conversation, or simply to be around people who understand, you'll always be welcome.

Because we are more than just a football club.

We are a community.

📰 BAMBER MHFC MAY ROUND-UP 📰

May has been another busy month for Bamber MHFC, packed with football, friendships, community and plenty of memories along the way.

⚽ AFC Bamber completed their Sunday League campaign, finishing in 5th place with 9 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses, collecting 29 points and continuing the progress made over the last couple of seasons.

👥 Across our mental health football sessions, we recorded an incredible 180 attendances across 9 sessions, showing once again the importance of providing a safe, welcoming space for men to connect, exercise and support one another.

🏆 In the Men's Mental Health Cup, Bamber MHFC finished 7th overall, securing a place in the Plate Quarter Finals, with plenty still to play for.

🚐 One of the highlights of the month was our trip to Newcastle for the Team North Spring Party. While the result didn't go our way on the pitch, the day was about much more than football. It was another opportunity to strengthen friendships, create memories and represent our club alongside an amazing group of lads.

A huge thank you to Altitude Services for once again supporting us by providing a welfare van to get the team there and back safely. 🙌

As always, thank you to every player, volunteer, supporter and sponsor who continues to make this club what it is.

🏆⚽ FIRST ROUND COMPLETE ⚽🏆

The opening round of the Men's Mental Health Cup 2026 has officially come to an end, with the final fixture taking place tonight as Vernon Vets recorded a 10-3 victory over Thornton Community FC.

Firstly, a huge thank you to every club, player, volunteer and supporter who has been part of this competition so far. What started as an idea to bring football and mental health together has become something truly special. 💙

There have been goals, drama, comebacks, friendships formed and plenty of conversations started along the way. While we've had a few withdrawals and forfeits throughout the competition, that was always a possibility when launching the first competition of its kind in Lancashire focused on men's mental health.

The important thing is that clubs got involved, people were brought together and the message that mental health matters reached even more people through football. 🤝

Now the focus shifts to the knockout stages...

⚽🏆 The road to the final is heating up… 🧠💛

This weekend marks the FINAL game of the opening round of the 2026 Men’s Mental Health Cup.

What started as clubs and communities coming together for mental health, football and support has already produced brilliant moments, new friendships and some unbelievable games. 🤝

Once this weekend’s fixture is complete, we move into the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals… all leading towards the huge Finals Day on 28th June at Euxton Villa FC. 🔥

One competition. One purpose. One conversation bigger than football.

Thank you to every player, supporter, volunteer and club involved so far. The support around men’s mental health has been incredible to see. 💛

🏆⚽ FIRST ROUND ROUND-UP ⚽🏆

Quick update as to where the The first ever Men’s Mental Health Cup, organised by Bamber MHFC, is up to.

Firstly, a massive thank you to every single club, player, volunteer and supporter who has taken part so far. What has been created here is far bigger than football. Conversations have started, communities have connected and new friendships have been formed all across Lancashire. 🤝

Of course, there have been bumps along the way.

It’s a shame that a few teams had to withdraw from the competition and we’ve unfortunately had several forfeits throughout the rounds too. But with this being the first competition of its kind in Lancashire focused around men’s mental health, organised by Bamber MHFC, we always knew there would be challenges and lessons to learn along the way.

That said… the effort, support and commitment shown by the teams involved has still been unbelievable. 👏

From last-minute fixtures… To clubs travelling across the county… To players opening up and supporting each other…

This competition has already shown exactly why football and mental health can work so powerfully together. 💭⚽

Now after today's final game, we move onto the Quarter Finals. Then the Semi Finals. And finally… Finals Day on 28th June at Euxton Villa. 🏟️🔥

The road to the final starts NOW.

Yesterday, Bamber MHFC made the long trip up to Newcastle for Team North’s Annual Spring Party, a brilliant day raising money for amazing charities including Pathways4All and Sarcoma UK. 💙💛

Honestly, at one stage this trip nearly didn’t happen. By Friday we were sat on only 10/11 players and close to calling it off, but after a lot of late-night messages and lads pulling together, we somehow managed to get a squad of 16 together. Massive thank you to everybody who helped get bodies in and an extra special thank you to the two lads from Carlisle City Deaf FC who joined us for the day. 🤝

The game itself started brilliantly with Joel Horton putting Bamber MHFC 1-0 up inside the opening 10 minutes. The lads then battled hard and held Team North right until the 45th minute when they finally found an equaliser.

Second half started perfectly too, with Harry Boxall announcing himself properly at Bamber by smashing home our second goal within five minutes. Considering Harry had never even met most of the lads before joining us back in February, to make his debut by travelling all the way to Newcastle and getting on the scoresheet was class to see. 👏

Eventually tired legs caught up with us and Team North pulled away, with the game finishing 5-2. But the match was played in great spirits from start to finish and we were proud to walk away with no cards… unlike Team North, who managed to pick up a few bookings, including their manager 🤣

Massive thank you to Team North for having us and for organising such a brilliant event for such important causes. Days like this are what community football and mental health football are all about.

Thank you to Ela BP Photography for capturing the moment as always!

Massive thank you to Team North for the warm welcome already.

See you all Saturday for what should be a brilliant day full of conversations and community ⚽🫶

It’s Matchday 5 and the half way stage in the 6 aside league division 4 at Leisure leagues at Ashton High School

The lads are currently unbeaten and not yet dropped any points in the first 4 games and tonight hope to keep the record up.

Tonight’s opposition is in 3rd place and hoping to get back to winning ways after their defeat last week.

With a strong squad tonight and coming off a great performance last week. The teams task is to get the win and stay top of the league
