Here’s a nice little case from yesterday where a client had been diagnosed with an “Eye Dominance problem.”
The client had been sold;
Patches - caused a general blur in vision and “head-lifting”.
Fibre-optic bead - useful for gun mount, hopeless for shooting gun down (in this instance)
Stick-on barrel bumps - null result, didn’t cause anything negative but achieved nothing.
A side rib - 🤯
A custom stock - from someone else! Well it’s a custom stock so it’s got to be better hasn’t it? It wasn’t a custom stock to her but that’s just detail 🤣
A new gun - very nice, no better.
At NO POINT had anyone checked, can this person see out of their right eye? 🤔
The picture shows why, in this case, she couldn’t.
Cataract is a very common cause of reduced vision and happens to all of us as we get older.
Simply, the protein structures in the lens clump together and the clarity through it is reduced - very much like when the lenses on your glasses steam up because of the mask!
In this case, the most effective solution is to arrange for the cataract to be removed - a simple 15 minute procedure under local anaesthetic where a new synthetic lens is inserted
NB!! If considering this, always go for single vision distance lenses for your shooting eye, not a multi focal...
Eye dominance is a multifactorial issue for which there is no panacea.
Some shooters may experience positive effects from beads, full occlusion dots, side-ribs, spatial gratings or any of the other commercially available aids, whereas others may experience null or
negative results.
Any product or company that claims to have produced a single product that “cures” eye dominance issues simply hasn’t read enough about the causes or is wilfully misleading...
