FT: Dunaghy FC 4 – 0 Upperlands

Dunaghy produced a strong all-round team performance at Landhead to secure a 4–0 victory over Upperlands.
The visitors actually started the brighter of the two sides and looked comfortable in possession during the opening exchanges. Dunaghy’s opener came somewhat against the run of play in the 9th minute, when G. Wilmont found the net to give Dunaghy the lead.
That goal helped settle Dunaghy and, from that point, the match became much more even. Wilmont doubled his tally in the 28th minute, giving the home side a two-goal cushion heading into the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Dunaghy showing greater sharpness in front of goal. Wilmont completed a superb hat-trick in the 59th minute, before adding his fourth of the afternoon in the 71st minute to cap an outstanding individual display.
The match was a fairly even contest in many areas, with both teams enjoying good spells of possession. However, Dunaghy proved far more clinical in the final third, converting the chances that came their way while maintaining a strong and disciplined defensive shape at the back.
👏 On the day, Dunaghy's Gareth Wilmont was simply unplayable, with Upperlands struggling to cope with his strength and physical presence throughout the match. His powerful forward play caused constant problems for the visiting defence and ultimately proved to be the difference between the sides.
