BUYA 2016 – Match Report
Saturday 12th September 2026 – HGL
It was a fantastic start to the season for BUYA 2016s with plenty of goals, great football and some excellent team performances across the day.
Academy – Mini Games
With the original fixture failing to show, the Academy made the most of the situation by playing two mini games against Limavady and East End.
The squad were absolutely brilliant throughout both games. We lined up in a 2-5-1 formation, and the team played some excellent football from the first whistle.
A special mention must go to Koa, who made his league debut today, he put in an excellent performance between the sticks keeping a clean sheet in both matches!
The Academy won the first game easily against Limavady and followed that up with another impressive victory against East End.
One of the highlights of the day was a fantastic goal that went from back to front without the opposition touching the ball — a brilliant example of teamwork, passing and movement.
Two games, two clean sheets and five goals scored. A great morning's work from the Academy!
Athletics 4–1 Portrush
The Athletics also got their season off to an emphatic start with a victory over Portrush.
The game was played against an aggressive Portrush side, but the Atheltics kept their heads and refused to be drawn into the physical side of the game.
Instead, they dominated proceedings with some lovely passing football and showed great composure throughout.
A well-deserved victory and a very encouraging start to the season.
Colts 5–3 Limavady Colts
The Colts produced a fantastic performance, beating Limavady Colts in an exciting end-to-end encounter.
There was plenty of attacking football from both sides, but the colts showed great character and determination to come out on top.
The boys fully deserved the victory after an excellent team performance.
Across all the games, the kids showed great teamwork, passing, determination and, most importantly, a real enjoyment of their football ⚽️
