Big news at Ballee FC πŸ”Άβš«

Reece has committed for another season as manager of the club, with Craig Young stepping up as Assistant Manager for the upcoming campaign.

As preparations begin for next season, the club is also looking for:
β€’ New players
β€’ Committee members
β€’ People willing to help behind the scenes

If you’re interested in getting involved in any way, please reach out to the page or contact the club directly.

The foundations are already being put in place for a big year ahead and everyone at the club is excited for what’s to come.

Manager’s Statement

"Taking over the role just one week before the season started was never going to be easy. It was a difficult season at times, but massive credit goes to the players and everyone around the club for sticking together and seeing the season through to the end.

Now that I’ve had a full season to experience what it takes to manage at this level, I’m confident that next season Ballee FC will be competing with the top teams and beyond.

Over the past few weeks we’ve already started strengthening things behind the scenes. We’ve brought in an experienced coach alongside extra help off the pitch, and I believe that will lay the foundations for a much stronger and more competitive season ahead.

I also want to personally reach out to lads who maybe can’t commit to morning football or who are looking for a fresh start next season. If you want to be part of a club that’s ambitious, rebuilding, and moving in the right direction, get in touch.

Finally, thank you to everyone who supported the club throughout a challenging season. The hard work for next year starts now and we’re all looking forward to what’s ahead". πŸ”Άβš«

Match Report: Brantwood Reserves 2–1 Ballee
BPFL Linda Welshman Memorial Cup 25/26 – Round of 16

Before kick-off, both sides observed a minute’s silence in memory of Robert Swann, who tragically passed away while refereeing a game.

Robert was a hugely respected figure within the Ballymena Saturday Morning League, and someone many of the older Ballee players knew well from their time in the BSML. His presence around the local game was a constant, and his passing has been deeply felt across the football community.

The silence was impeccably observed, a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated so much of his time to the game and to the people within it. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

When the match got underway, Ballee produced a strong and competitive performance but were ultimately left frustrated as Brantwood Reserves edged the tie 2–1.

The home side took the lead midway through the first half through Gary Johnston, but Ballee responded well and grew into the game. Their pressure paid off just before the break when Corey McDowell found the equaliser, ensuring the sides went in level at half-time.

In the second half, it was a tight and evenly contested affair, but Brantwood regained the lead through Chris Jarvis on 53 minutes. From that point on, Ballee pushed hard for another equaliser and created several good opportunities.

They were unfortunate not to find the net, striking the post twice in a spell where they looked the more likely side. The biggest moment of controversy came in the 87th minute, when Ballee thought they had levelled the game from a free kick, only for the referee to rule it out for offside, much to the frustration of players and supporters alike.

Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take, particularly in defence where Kevin Henderson delivered a commanding performance, organising the back line superbly and earning Man of the Match for Ballee.

On another night, the result could easily have gone the other way, but Ballee can take pride in their performance and will feel hard done by not to have taken the tie further.

Match Report: Ballee 1–1 Grange Rangers
BPFL Junior Division 2

Ballee were forced to settle for a point in a 1–1 draw with Grange Rangers in what was a frustrating afternoon, played in difficult conditions under a relentless heat.

The game started at a steady pace, with both sides trying to adjust to the conditions, but it was the visitors who struck first. Ethan Spence found the net early in the second half to give Grange Rangers the lead, putting Ballee on the back foot despite a fairly even opening period.

To their credit, Ballee responded well and began to take control of the game, creating a number of clear chances. However, a combination of missed opportunities and solid defending from the visitors meant the equaliser remained elusive for much of the match.

As the heat took its toll, the tempo dropped, but Ballee continued to push forward, knowing they had chances to take more from the game. Their persistence finally paid off deep into stoppage time, when Tyreese McDowell struck in the 95th minute to rescue a deserved point.

Despite the late goal, there will be a sense of frustration in the Ballee camp, with several big chances going begging that could have secured all three points. On another day, the result could have looked very different.

In the end, it was a hard-earned draw in tough conditions, and while the performance showed plenty of positives, Ballee will look to be more clinical in front of goal in their next outing.

Match Report: Wellington Rec Olympic 9–0 Ballee
BPFL Canada Trophy 25/26

Ballee endured a difficult afternoon as they fell to a heavy 9–0 defeat away to Wellington Rec Olympic, in what proved to be a tough test against a strong home side.

From the outset, Wellington imposed themselves on the game, moving the ball sharply and capitalising on their attacking options. It was clear early on that they had a number of first-team players involved, which added to the challenge for a Ballee side already stretched.

Despite the scoreline, Ballee continued to work hard and showed resilience in difficult circumstances. With a demanding schedule and limited availability, the squad battled on, but Wellington’s quality and depth ultimately proved the difference.

There are still positives to take, particularly in terms of effort and commitment against strong opposition. Ballee will look to regroup quickly, with another challenging fixture just around the corner but finally with a full squad available they are looking forward to the challenge.

Match Report: Greencastle Rovers II 6–1 Ballee FC

Ballee FC faced a tough test on their third game in the space of a week as they travelled to take on league leaders Greencastle Rovers II. With injuries and suspensions stretching the squad, it was always going to be a difficult afternoon and so it proved.

Greencastle showed why they sit at the top of the table, taking full advantage of Ballee’s depleted side and quick turnaround between fixtures. They started strongly and were clinical in front of goal, building momentum throughout the game.

Despite the scoreline, Ballee continued to battle and showed character, with Ryan Clarke getting on the scoresheet to give the visitors something to build on.

There were still positives to take, with Carl Ritchie earning Ballee’s Man of the Match after a superb performance.

Ballee now have little time to rest and recover, with another tough match in just two days’ time as attention turns to cup action.
