A few weeks ago we asked you all what you felt you would struggle with most over the festive period, and a whooping 77% of you felt nutrition would be your biggest struggle!
This may not come as a surprise, because for most people nutrition really is the area that holds them back from achieving their goals!
Nutrition doesn’t have to be complicated, and it doesn’t have to be boring; just look at all of these amazing meals members of our Shred are eating while still sticking to their nutrition goals and shedding body-fat!
Here are our top tips for getting through the holidays while staying on track with your nutrition:
1. Prioritise protein; protein is an important nutrient that helps to keep you full! Try and prioritise getting a good source of protein (such as meat, eggs, etc.) at every meal.
2. Cut back on alcohol; alcohol not only contains lots of calories, but also makes you more likely to overindulge while drinking and the day after. Try to cut back on a few drinks, and when you are drinking think about opting for lower calorie options.
3. Calorie banking; try “saving” up calories for the weekend or events like Christmas parties by eating a little less throughout the week. By eating 200 calories less Monday-Friday, you could save 1000 extra calories to indulge a little more over the weekend while still staying within your weekly calorie target!
4. A bad day doesn’t make a bad week; if you over indulge a little, don’t let it get the best of you! Instead of thinking that you’ve ruined your hard work so there’s no point in trying, just get back on track as quickly as possible!
