As we close the curtains on the 25/26 season, we would like to thank our players and management teams for their commitment and effort throughout what has been a long season.
Both teams were playing their first season in new leagues and performed well in two very competitive divisions. Our Senior team finished 3rd in the BPFL Division 1, while our Reserves finished 6th in the BSML Division 3, narrowly missing out in the promotion play-offs. We congratulate Greencastle Rovers and Bellaghy Town on their well-deserved league titles.
On the cup front, our Senior team enjoyed good runs in both the Junior Cup and Shield, losing out to eventual Junior Cup winners Enniskillen Town and Shield semi-finalists Kelvin OB.
However, the undoubted highlight of the season was our Reserve team winning the Sammy Moore Cup, beating Bellaghy, Toome and Ahoghill Rovers along the way. A fantastic achievement and one which was well celebrated ๐
As we prepare for next season, which will bring fresh challenges but none that we havenโt faced before, we look forward to returning home to the Billy Watson Pitch in the latter stages of the season. This will mark over two years without playing at home, something that has been difficult for both the club and players.
We are also delighted to announce the formation of our U18 team, creating a clear pathway from academy football to senior football.
Details of our AGM will be posted shortly, and I would encourage anyone interested in joining the committee to get in touch.
Finally, to our sponsors and supporters, we are incredibly grateful for your continued support. As a great man once said, โFootball without fans is nothing!โ (If you can name who said it, you get a free BUFC season ticket!)
Ballycastle has the potential to compete at the very highest level of junior football and beyond. We will continue to work as hard as ever to achieve this.
