Crathie cricket club

A minutes applause was held before last Saturday’s match to mark the recent passing of club members.
John Hitchen was a big part of Aboyne RFC (now know as Deeside RFC) and a club legend for Crathie CC.
His love for sport in Deeside shall live on in the clubs he so strongly supported.

Deeside and Wanderers came together last Saturday in Banchory to hold a minute’s applause in memory of Adam Wiltshire, who proudly played for Wanderers Accies. Adam sadly passed away recently following a long-term illness.

Deeside also paid tribute to two true club stalwarts, John Hitchen and Keith Mair, who have also passed away recently.

Our sincere thanks to Mossez (Wanderers) and Sarah (Deeside) for organising such a fitting tribute.

It means a great deal to both clubs that those who gave so much to the game are remembered and respected by the rugby community. 💙🏉

Even a rainy start to the day wasn’t enough to put off The Forty Club from traveling from all over Scotland to play in the Patron cup, our annual friendly.
XL won the toss and elected to bat and slowly set about setting a target of 210.
Crathie started strong and kept on pace with the required run rate and chased it right down to the wire of the last ball in the last over, falling short of a first victory against The Forty Club by just 5 runs.

Very tight game to finish off the season, a loaded 3rd Gordonians team took their relegation fight to the 39th over losing 9 wickets along the way to beat Crathie with 167 runs.

With poor weather forecast its was agreed that 25 overs each could be played & completed before the rain sets in.
Ellon won the toss & elected to bat and set about notching up 170 for 3.
Wishing to get the game completed and not rely on DWL, teas were postponed. Crathie stepped up and closed the margin, and it all came down to a quick single on the last ball to tie the game.
