Saturday saw the beginning of our new golf season and we had a very good turnout for our opening Texas Scramble.
Our Club Captain George Davidson welcomed everyone and hoped that they had enjoyed their game of golf despite the very heavy rain coming on for the last 2 holes.
Mandy Cruickshank Lady Captain gave a short history of our clubhouse and how it had been officially opened by Queen Elizabeth 11, on the 30th September 1995, and it was to be known as “The Queens Pavillion.
The committee felt that we should do something to mark its 30th anniversary and a sign over the veranda at the front of the Queens Pavillion was suggested.
One of our members Hugh MacKay, kindly sourced the perfect piece of dried Oak, and he, along with the help of his friend, Willie Easton made a beautiful sign, which Hugh very kindly
and very generously donated to the club.
Eddie Esson who was the gents captain from 1985 – 2004, and Hugh then unveiled the new sign which now hangs proudly in place.
Mandy then went on to say how honoured and delighted that she along with George Davidson & Katrina Farquhar were awarded honorary members in November 2025 for all that they have done for the golf club over the years.
Winners on the day with a score of 50.5 after a count back were Duncan McLean, George Davidson, Heather Ritchie & Gillian Sinclair
Runners up with a score of 50.5 were Graeme MacFarlane, Jeff Hall, Geoff Feeney & Ann McCall.
Third place with a score of 54 were Brian Lees, Stewart Archibald, David Edwards & Pat Richard.
Everyone then enjoyed some refreshments, savouries and home bakes.
