ONE WEEK ON | THE PEOPLE WHO MADE HPX HAPPEN 💙
One week since HPX 2026, and just as we did last year, we want to recognise the people without whom none of it happens.
Our volunteers. Our judges. Our community.
Almost 300 people gave up their time across the weekend to make HPX happen, including an incredible 193 different judges.
For our Elite heats, we even had two judges per team to make sure we got things dead on.
And incredibly…
193 judges. Not ONE no-show.
One of our Race Directors, Martin, said one of his highlights was actually seeing the disappointment on a judge’s face when they arrived and the athletes they were due to judge had withdrawn or not turned up.
They genuinely wanted to be there. That sums up the HPX community perfectly.
Behind all of this were Claire and Sam.
For weeks, they meticulously worked through hundreds of athletes, heats, judges, timings and availability.
We could easily have set a cut-off for changes. At many races, you’re given your race time and that’s it.
That’s not how we wanted HPX to work.
Claire and Sam spent hours of their own time rearranging heats around work, family commitments and individual circumstances to make sure everyone got the opportunity to race.
Add to that the fact that many judges were also racing themselves or trying to watch friends and family, and the logistics were huge.
So to Claire, Sam and almost 300 people who judged, volunteered, marshalled, moved equipment or simply asked “what do you need?” THANK YOU. 💙
HPX is built by its community.
And once again, you gave it a HUNNER PERCENT.
Almost 300 volunteers.

ZERO judge no-shows.
