Another busy morning at our Troon Carers Group! ☕💙

A big thank you to every carer who came along today. It was great to see the group so well attended and to have the chance to catch up with everyone.

This morning we also welcomed Home Energy Scotland, who have now supported several carers across South Ayrshire to make their homes more energy efficient and help reduce their energy bills. One carer has even been supported to move from an oil heating system to a more efficient heat pump system, which is a fantastic example of the practical difference this support can make.

Thanks again to everyone who joined us, and to Home Energy Scotland for coming along and sharing such useful advice and support. 🫶

A huge thank you to Flirtatious Fiction Bookshop in Ayr, who have very generously gifted 20 new “Blind Date with a Book” packages for adult unpaid carers in South Ayrshire. Each one contains a surprise novel from the world of romance fiction, along with a few extra goodies to enjoy.

For many carers, reading can be a simple but valuable way to take a short break, a chance to switch off, relax and enjoy a little time for themselves. We’re very grateful for this thoughtful and generous donation.

If you’re an adult unpaid carer in South Ayrshire and would like to receive one, please get in touch with us on 01292 263000 or stop into one of the locality hubs or carers groups.

There are 20 available and please note that the books are all within the romance fiction genre.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Prestwick Carers Group today. 💙

It was a wonderful session, with self-care right at the top of the agenda. We never tire of promoting the importance of self-care within caring roles. When so much of your time and energy is focused on supporting someone else, it can be all too easy to put your own needs to one side. But taking time for yourself isn’t selfish, it can help protect your wellbeing, reduce stress, restore energy and give you the space you need to keep going.

Sometimes self-care is about the small things: taking a break, enjoying a cuppa, getting outside, connecting with others, or simply giving yourself permission to rest.

Thank you to everyone who came along, shared, listened and supported one another today. It was lovely to see you all. 💙

💙 Welcome to the team, Katie! 💙

We’re delighted to welcome Katie, our new Young Carers Support Officer to the team! Katie has already been busy over the last number of weeks supporting young carers and their families across South Ayrshire.

As the new term gets underway, Katie will be spending time in Prestwick Academy, Ayr Academy, Marr College, Kyle Academy and Belmont Academy, as well as the cluster primary schools linked to these areas.

Katie is really looking forward to getting out and about, meeting pupils, families and school staff and continuing to make sure young carers across South Ayrshire feel supported, recognised and connected. 🫶
