June Medal results.

The June Medal took place on June 10/12/13/14 over Seafield golf course from the black tees and the heavy rough, gusty winds and occasional rain over the competition days took a toll on the scoring as no one could shoot par or better.

We had 4 players vying for 3 podium positions as Ronnie Lees joined Eric Borland and Kyle Bendall on nett 72 (3 over par).

Despite a birdie at hole 10, Ronnie failed to make the podium as he lost out on countback to Eric, who was then relegated to 3rd on countback by Kyle as he finished runner-up.

Our winner this week after a 7 week absence through work, was Jonathon Goodlet with a nett 71 (2 over par) with his round containing birdies at holes 5/18 as he triumphed by a single stroke.

With no Two's recorded for this event, the prize pot rolls on to this week's venue at Girvan to see if it can be won.

Vice Captain Tankard results.

The Vice Captain Tankard event took place on June 3/5/6/7 over Girvan golf course from the white tees with 16 members braving the elements of gusty winds, driving rain and lush rough as the course bared it's teeth.

Only the podium finishers scored par or better as the course clearly won the battle against the majority of players.

In 3rd spot was Ronnie Lees with a nett 64 (level par) and his round contained birdies at holes 4/18. Unfortunately, double bogeys at holes 9/13/15/17 almost certainly cost him the chance of victory and indeed his poor inward half meant he was relegated to 3rd spot on countback.

Runner-up with the best gross score of 74 (10 over par) was Alan Muir with his solitary birdie coming at hole 16, as he also finished with a nett 64 (level par).

Our winner this week was Billy Rae with a nett 63 (1 under par) and his margin of victory might have been greater than a single stroke but for double bogeys at holes 2/3.

We finally had some winners for the Two's prize pot as Ronnie Lees with birdie at hole 18 and Mark Mancini with eagle at hole 16, scooped up the prize pots for the last three weeks, between themse

Summer Stableford results.

The Summer Stableford event took place on May 27/29/30/31 over Darley golf course from either the white or yellow tees with handicaps adjusted accordingly and with tee times, especially over the weekend, difficult to obtain we had a truncated field of only 14 players for this event.

Scoring on a golf course previously known as the 5th hardest in Scotland to play to your handicap on, was poor apart from our winner who had the only under par points total via the Stableford system.

We had a tie on 34pts, with Alan Muir continuing his fine form as he birdied hole 2. However, a poor inward half included 2 double bogeys and a triple as he was beaten on countback by John Kelly who finshed with a birdie on 17 and an eagle at the last.

Our clear winner was James Burnett with 42 points and his 8pt margin of victory might have been greater but for double bogeys at holes 1/13. With no Two's recorded for the second week running, the prize pot rolls on to this week's venue at Girvan to see if it can be won

Past Captains Trophy and Qualifier 3 results.

The Past Captains Trophy/Championship Qualifier 3 event took place on May 20/22/23/24 over Seafield golf course from the black tees with 24 players looking to win the event and also qualifying spots in the Club Scratch Championship and Handicap Club Championship.

Overall scoring was poor with only the top two finishers shooting par or better as the heavy rough took its toll on errant shots.

In 3rd spot with a nett 70 (1 over par), was Tony Bloor and his round contained a birdie at hole 5.

Runner-up with a nett 69 (level par) was Jim Burnett whose score might have been better without three double bogeys on the card.

Our clear winner this week, shooting a phenominal gross score of 67 (2 under par) was record breaking 7-time Club champion, Alan Smeeton.

With a round containing a dropped shot at the 3rd but birdies at holes 13/14/18, Alan finished nett 65 (4 under par) for a 4 stroke victory.

This round also ensured that Alan qualified as the number 1 seed for the Scratch Club Championship and he was joined by 6-time Champ, Robert Gilchrist, Scott Kirk, Alan Muir, John Brodie, Warren Barclay, David Edgar and Paul Middleditch, seeded in that order.

In the Handicap Club Championship, Gordon Christie qualified as the number 1 seed and he was joined by defending Champion, Ian Speirs, Gerry Cavanagh, Tony Bloor, Ronnie Lees, James Burnett (last year's beaten finalist), Michael Duffy and Peter Cavanagh, again seeded in that order.

Both draws are now available to see on the Club website via Knockout Draws. Members are reminded that you can only qualify for one event and the Scratch Championship takes precedence.

Good luck to everyone taking part.

May Medal and Qualifier 2 results.

The May Medal/Championship Qualifier 2 event took place on May 6/8/9/10 over Seafield golf course from the black tees with 22 players looking for a place in the end of season Medal Final and the match play stages of the Club Championship events.

Scoring was poor overall with only the winner shooting level par as the course dried out and the rough became a factor due to the good growing conditions of the last 10 days.

We had 5 players tied on nett 71 (2 over par) as countback finally separated Paul Middleditch, Jim Bryden and Ian Speirs from the podium positions.

In 3rd place was Eric Borland who might have finished higher in the event but for a poor start that saw him drop 5 shots in his opening 4 holes.

Runner-up on countback, was John Brodie whose dreadful front nine contained only a single par as he struggled with the course conditions. Fortunately, a fine inward half including a birdie at hole 10 meant he pipped the other 4 players with his nett 71.

This weeks winner with the best gross score of 77 (8 over par) was Alan Muir and much like the runner-up, Alan struggled on the outward half with only 2 pars on his card.

However, a fantastic back nine of level par 36 including birdies at holes 15/18 meant he triumphed by 2 shots as he won his 3rd medal event of the season so far.

We had only a single 2 recorded this week by that man, Alan Muir and so he picks up the prize pot by himself.

Chase Cup Results

The Chase Cup event took place on April 29/May1/2/3 over Seafield golf course from the black tees and 23 members particpated in the battle for the trophy that bears the name of the Club.

Shooting the best gross score of 72 (3 over par) was 7-time Club Champion, Alan Smeeton with his round containing birdies at holes 2/7/13/16 as he finished with a nett 69 (level par).

Also shooting nett 69 was Warren Barclay with his sole birdie coming at hole 14 and this was enough to pip Alan on countback for 3rd spot overall.

Runner-up with a nett 68 (1 under par) was Club Captain, Gerry Cavanagh with his round containing a solitary biride at hole 18.

This weeks winner with a nett 65 (4 under par) and making his seasonal debut was the youngest of the Kelly clan, Jack, and his only birdie came at hole 18 as he triumphed by 3 shots.

We had only a single 2 this week scored by John Kelly on hole 15 and so he picks up the prize pot all by himself.

Past Friends competition results.

The Past Friends event took place on April 22/24/25/26 over Girvan golf course from the white tees and 19 members played on our first visit to the contradiction of a course that is part links and part parkland.

Only the top two finishers broke par as the weekend players struck lucky with little wind and underfoot conditions that were drying out although hole 11 still retained some water.

In 3rd spot with a nett 70 (6 over par) was Warren Barclay and Warren was the only midweek player to make the top 7 places despite 3 double bogeys on the outward half.

Runner-up with a nett 64 (level par) was Scott Kirk who played steadily but foundered on the outward half as he bogeyed three of the four par 3 holes.

Our clear winner and continuing his recent good form was Alan Muir, who fired the best gross score of 70 (6 over par) with his round containing birdies at holes 7/14 as his nett 60 (4 under par) gave him a 4 shot victory despite starting with 5 bogeys in his opening 6 holes.

We had Two's scored on hole 7 (Alan Muir) and hole 14 (Alan Muir/Eric Borland) but as Eric does not participate in the Two's event, Alan picks up the prize pot himself.

22/04/2026

Davy Weir Cup results.

The Davy Weir Cup event took place on April 15/17/18/19 over Belleisle golf course from the white or yellow tees with handicaps adjusted accordingly and only 11 members braved the heavy underfoot conditions and gusty winds.

Scoring at the head of the field was good with 4 players vying for the three podium places as Alan Muir and Tony Bloor battled for 3rd spot.

Despite a birdie at hole 2, Alan's nett 70 (1 under par) was pipped for the podium on countback by Tony via the better inward half.

Runner-up this week with a fine score of nett 69 (2 under par), was David Edgar with the highlight of his round a birdie at hole 15.

Our clear winner with a nett 66 (5 under par) was Ronnie Lees with his solitary birdie coming at hole 3 on the way to a 3 stroke victory.

We had 2's scored this week by Ronnie Lees (hole 3) and Mark Mancini (hole 7) and they claim this weeks spoils.

05/04/2026

Alloway Pharmacy Qualifier results.

The Alloway Pharmacy Qualifier event took place on April 01/03/04/05 over Belleisle golf course from the white tees and with the poor weather and heavy course conditions only 16 members braved the mud and the rain in a bid to reach the Match Play stages of this event.

In the end only the leading qualifier shot anywhere near par as the poor course conditions took their toll.

The fight for the podium places was tight with Ian Young shooting a nett 76 (5 over par) and Ronnie Lees doing likewise as he relegated Ian to 3rd spot on countback on his way to being runner-up.

Our clear winner and making his seasonal debut, was Warren Barclay who fired a level par nett 71 including birdies at holes 2/9 on his way to a 5 shot margin of victory. With the scoring being so poor, it was no surprise we had no 2's made in the first event of the Summer season and the pot will be added to next week's competition.

The draw for the Match play stages will appear on the website later but is as follows:

Barclay v Bendall and Muir v Hannah in the top half of the draw;

Young v Goodlet and Lees v Gerry Cavanagh in the bottom half. Good luck to everyone who qualified for the Match Play stages.
