I’ve had quite a few people messaging recently asking if I’m going to be running another Introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu day or beginners’ course.

I stopped doing these, but there seems to be a lot of interest in doing another one.

If learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, improving your self-defence, building confidence, getting fitter, or simply trying something new is something you’ve been thinking about, let me know.

If you’re interested – whether it’s just you, or you and a friend – contact me directly, send the Musashi social media pages a DM, or email:

📧 [email protected]

If there’s enough interest, I’ll get one organised.

🥋 No experience necessary.
💪 All fitness levels welcome.
🤝 A friendly, supportive environment.

You might think you can fight.

But studies and video analyses of real-world altercations suggest that between 40% and 70% of fights end up on the ground.

What happens then?

Can you take someone down?

Can you stop yourself being taken down?

Can you escape a bad position?

Can you get back to your feet?

Can you control another human being under pressure?

Most people have absolutely no idea.

I’ve watched big, strong, athletic people walk into their first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class and gas out within seconds. There’s a huge difference between being fit and being fit for grappling.

Running, lifting weights and playing sports are fantastic. But it’s a different experience when another human being is crushing you with pressure, controlling your movement, forcing you to carry their weight, and actively trying to dominate you.

It’s also a different experience when someone knows how to clinch, trip, throw, sweep, off-balance and take you down using skills developed through wrestling, judo, sambo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Most people never experience that level of pressure until they step onto the mats.

That’s when reality kicks in.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu pressure-tests you. It teaches you to stay calm under stress, solve problems under pressure, defend yourself, and control another person when things don’t go to plan.

The world can be an unpredictable place.

Stay fit.
Stay capable.
Stay prepared.

At first glance, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can look intense.

Two people trying to choke each other.
Sweaty training sessions.
Hard rounds.
Serious faces.
Pressure.
Competition.

But look a little closer and you’ll see something different.

The high fives.
The hugs.
The laughs.
The handshakes.
The friendships.

Every person in that room is helping each other improve. We spend an hour solving problems, overcoming resistance, testing ourselves, and helping our training partners become better versions of themselves.

It’s a strange thing to explain to people who don’t train. We can have a hard round, push each other to our limits, and then immediately be sharing advice, laughing together, and celebrating each other’s progress.

That’s because Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn’t about hurting people.

It’s about building people.

Confidence.
Resilience.
Discipline.
Friendship.
Community.

The training might be tough, but the culture is what keeps people coming back.

That’s what Musashi is all about.

Train hard.
Look after each other.
Get better together.

It’s a crazy world out there right now.

Every day there’s more noise. More tension. More stress. More things competing for your attention.

But when you step onto the mats at Musashi, none of that exists.

No mobile phones. No news. No politics. No drama. No distractions.

Just you, your training partner, and one of the greatest martial arts ever created.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu demands your full attention. You’re solving problems in real time. Learning how to defend yourself. Learning how to control another human being. Learning takedowns, escapes, submissions, pressure, timing, strategy, and resilience.

Physically stronger. Mentally stronger. Harder to break. Harder to kill.

You’re building confidence, discipline, fitness, and the ability to stay calm when things get difficult.

Whether you want to learn self-defence, improve your health, challenge yourself, meet great people, or simply switch off from the chaos of the outside world for a few hours each week, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is for you.

Don’t be intimidated. Don’t wait until you’re fitter. Don’t wait until you’re stronger.

Start now.

Your future self will thank you for it.

At Musashi, you’ll find a team that will welcome you, challenge you, support you, and help you become the strongest version of yourself.

First class is free.

Drop us a message on social media or email [email protected] and let’s get started.

See you on the mats.

Kieran stepped onto the mats at the British Open in the super heavyweight division and delivered a performance that reflected both technical refinement and competitive resolve.

After securing two decisive victories, he advanced to the final where he faced an opponent with a significant weight advantage of nearly 30kg. Despite this disparity, Kieran imposed his game with clarity and composure, demonstrating a level of technical control and tactical awareness that is rare in athletes at this stage of development.

The final result was decided on points, but the margin does not adequately capture the quality of Kieran’s performance. He displayed grit under pressure, remained disciplined in his approach, and continued to engage with technical intent throughout.

Progress in jiu-jitsu is measured not only in victories, but in the ability to perform one’s game against increasingly difficult challenges. In this respect, Kieran’s performance represents a meaningful step forward.
