Yesterday was actioned packed at the Scottish Schools Combined Events Champs which also incorporated Steeplechase, Hammer Throw and Para Development. It was a very busy timetable with a huge amount of athletes participating in the U14 Quadrathlon. There were many Seaforthers competing throughout the day representing their schools.

Medallists

Isla Milligan (Carrick) - Gold in the U16 Girls Pentathlon

Laurie McAlpine (Prestwick) - Bronze in the U18 Womens Hammer Throw
Sebastien Ballantyne (Prestwick) - Bronze in the U18 Mens Hammer Throw
Charlie Gillies (Wellington) - Bronze in the U16 Boys Hammer Throw

Congratulations to these medal winners, their coaches and support teams! Laurie’s throw of 42.98m in the Hammer is an improvement of the U17 Women’s club record set back in 2015 (subject to review).

Other highlights

Piper Jackson (Queen Margaret) had a great day finishing 5th out of 37 girls in the U16 Girls Pentathlon.

In the U14 Girls competition Emily Good (Kyle) had a solid day finishing 6th out of a whopping 58 girls. Dalidh Logg and Isla Samson (also Kyle) finished in 30th and 32nd respectively.

Willow Challis (Prestwick) finished in 4th place in the U18 Women’s Steeplechase, very close to the Bronze medal. Sofia Maclean (Prestwick) was also close to a podium finish in the U16 Girls Hammer as she finished in 4th place with a new PB.

Some brilliant performances again from our U18/U20 and Senior athletes at match 2 of the Scottish National Athletics League. Sadly, the winds were high so not many official PBs!

Well done to Anna Campbell who ran a solid time for her first ever 400m Hurdles race. Callan Blackwood continues to show great form in the short sprints as he finished as one of the fastest U18 athletes in the 100m and 200m. Both Matthew Cox and Luca Stewart showed fine form in the 200m and 400m respectively as they continue on the journey back from injury.
