Based in Aylsham, Norfolk, United Kingdom, Melanie teaches an approach to yoga that was inspired by Vanda Scaravelli. In Vanda's book Awakening the Spine, she explores how we can 'undo the body' by fully connecting to the ground and the breath. Melanie spent decades in South Africa practising under hatha yoga teachers, and qualified as a music therapist. She is interested in breaking out of the re

strictive mould of yoga postures and practises. Her teaching has evolved from her search for a more exploratory, creative way of moving and being. Melanie encourages students to practise in a sensitive and relaxed way, while always challenging themselves to explore movement more deeply. She also offers 1-to-1 yoga classes.

Combining these different approaches into one field of exploration, we'll begin with an hour of guided Yoga , then open into Authentic Movement practice.

I've been drawn to Norfolk's peaceful SWANTON NOVERS village NORFOLK UK for the last 3 years , for our annual SUMMER SOLSTICE YOGA RETREAT, 19TH TO 21ST JUNE 2026. The weekend is a chance to notice your breath, and orient yourself to the body which carries you.
To hopefully feel by the end, what a gift it is to be alive inside a human body, on such a beautiful planet! Food this time will be supplied by Vicky's Kitchen.

AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT: AN INTRODUCTION

These workshops offer an introduction to the mover-witness framework, often known as Authentic Movement. Suitable for those new to Authentic Movement, and those who wish to return to its basic principles.
