Saturday 11th October
Thorpe Jaguars vs Aylsham Hurricanes

Away to Thorpe at the open acedemy, let's say it was one of those difficult watches for our supporters today. Our pre match warm-up wasn't where we would have liked it to be as we didn't have much space or a goal to warm up in, so that didnt help us but truthfully we were just off colour today.
The first half we looked like a team that had never played together before despite being 3 years in, nothing was coming off for us. Thorpe managed to punish this, but luckily, only once making it 1-0 at half-time.
Second half, we looked a little more lively but still no where near our best, Thorpe capitalised on this to make it 2-0 with 20 minutes to go.
But the sign of a good team is that when they’re not at your best (& we definitely were not), you show the character to turn it around & that the boys did. With 15 to go, we started to click & we managed to wrestle the game back from the jaws of defeat. Raife produced two great assists with some silky footwork to set up Jude, who continued his great scoring run.
Although it was a difficult watch compared to our normal standards, we can be proud of the character they have individually & as a team to never give up 💪🏻.

Saturday 4th October
Aylsham Hurricanes vs Swaffham

We were back at Youngs Park & back on the 3g, a real treat to be back on a decent pitch where the lads could get the ball down & play.
The challenge we set ourselves this week was to get off to a quicker start, the last three games had all seen us down 2-1 at half-time. The boys had managed to turn them all round into positive results, but we can't keep relying on coming back in the second half as that luck is bound to run out.
We made some changes to our prematch routine to try & inspire a faster start to our games. This worked & we came out of the blocks straight away. The wind affected the game a little, but the boys adapted their game really well by getting the ball on the floor & playing the majority of the first half I the opposition half-time. We conceded one long range effort shortly after our first goal but apart from that one attempt we always looked in control.
The second half saw a few changes & at 2-1 thats always a tricky score to manage. Swaffham pressed us really well & we were soaking up a lot of pressure. This made us turn to our bench for some inspiration to get us higher up the pitch which worked to great effect. That made it comfortable enough to bring some more changes, all the lads playing a vital part in today’s game.

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉100 CLUB 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Congratulations to our newest member of the 100 Club, Buzz.

Buzz played his first game for the Hurricanes at the Aylsham Tournament as we went into our second season.
Since that time he has scored 49 Goals and racked up 18 Assists.

Buzz has this season started playing for our sister team (Aylsham Typhoons) where he has already scored 8 goals and we are enjoying watching him play football with a smile and the passion we always knew.

Saturdays match report
Brandon vs Aylsham Hurricanes

On Saturday, we headed down just into Suffolk to face Brandon. We more often than not struggle to make make fast starts in games & a long journey normally doesn't help us, so today Hurricanes kept up with that tradition and started slowly 😂.
Although we match Brandon well, we had a few factors against us in the first half, playing uphill, the wind against & a blinding sun all made it difficult. Brandon used these advantages to great effect, especially with their keepers long, high kicks causing us problems at the back. We found ourselves 2-0 after two well struck goals from outside of our area. Luckily, we managed to grab one back just before half-time & for the third week running, we went in at half-time 2-1 down.
One thing we do know is the Hurricanes grow into games & never give up, so we came out of the blocks in the second half with more energy & a determination to wrestle the game back. Now with the wind & hill in our favour, we managed to pin Brandon in their own half for almost the entire second half, and despite Brandon's keepers best efforts our lads managed to get the ball over the line 3 times with some well worked goals.
Into extra time, our lads dug in and soaked up some Brandon pressure with Oscar pulling off some great saves. Another great result from the Hurricanes as they keep up their great record of results 👏.

We have put emphasis on the importance of high energy & workrate to the boys as we can see the way the game swings when we make changes sometimes & the high energy players come off. This week 3 players stood out for their high energy, Raf & Reggie as they often do but this week we picked Jude as our coaches player as he worked really hard forward & backwards making some great decisions with the ball 🏆

Norwich United (Friendly)

No league game today due to our opposition pulling out of the league so we faced a weekend without a game 😢. Luckily, Webb managed to find us a last-minute opposition in Norwich United, so a trip to Plantation park was sorted 👌🏻.
As we often do, we started slow & alittle flat and was punished by some pacey Norwich attacks.
The boys were working hard but things just weren't happening for them. At half-time we found ourselves 2-1 down, a well deserved Norwich United lead which could have been more if it wasnt for some great Oscar B saves.
At half-time we rallied the lads, changed the formation & tried to inject some energy in their play.
The boys adapted to these changes really well & certainly came out a different side. This half they looked assured & never really in danger if conceding. They took the chances well & score 5 great goals.

Saturdays Match report
Aylsham Hurricanes vs Wroxham

In true Hurricanes style, we started slow, which is always dangerous against a side as good as Wroxham. 2-0 after 10minutes, it felt like it could be a long morning. After 12½mins we made some changes, which gave an instant impact.
George came into the middle of the park for the physical battle, Reg pushed higher & the touch paper was ignited. The 7 now on the pitch suddenly had the energy & fight we had been lacking. It certainly was a physical game that our lads handled immensely well. from the 12½ minute until the 50th, we were the better team in every aspect. Every change we made, the player coming on made an impact. As coaches, supporters & parents, we couldnt have asked for more from our boys. It wasn’t our best footballing display, but for outright grit and determination to get the job done personally, I thought that is one if not our best display ever.
Its a huge team effort to get the boys to the level they are producing, a big thank you has to go to the parents for supporting us coaches in getting the boys to the extra training sessions we put on, this week everyone has been to every session avaliable which is absolutely brilliant, thank you.

AFC Hurricanes vs AFC Swifts

After a cancellation of our league fixture, we scrambled round to find ourselves an opposition. Luckily, for us, our u11 swifts also had a cancellation & were happy to give us a game.
It was a great entertaining game with some real end to end action. The Swifts matched our lads really well technically & physically the first quarter finishing 1-0 to us, but that flattered our boys as we were off our usual pace. I think playing against an all girls team gave them a different challenge especially mentally as the stood off the challenge & gave the girls a lot of time to play.
As we often do, though, we grew stronger as the game went on & by the final quarter were our free-flowing selves, tackling & playing just as if it was a normal league fixture.
The score flattered us somewhat, probably our extra training & and stamina, proving the difference in the 2nd half.

MATCH REPORT -
AFC U10 Hurricanes vs Sheringham

It's hard to gauge our progress as a team from preseason so far as we've missed so many regular faces. Those who have been playing & stepped into help us have kept us unbeaten so far in preseason, though, with some very good performances. Tonights game, I thought we were a little flat & quiet similar to the last Old Catton game, but never the less, we came out on top whilst also trying some different formations & individual positions.
None less than tonights captain Noan P who has had a great preseason so far, he wanted to play the whole game at lone center back & absolutely bossed it, he also stole the show with a goal that is an early front runner for goal of the season 👏🏼.
Noah J, Eorann & Rian all stepped in tonight to help us get the game on & all done exceptionally well 👏🏼.

Match Report. Saturday 9th August
Hurricanes vs Old Catton

All though training, tournaments & the odd friendly never finished this summer today felt like the start of the new season.
The boys picked up where they left off last season by putting in a great display for the supporters.
They took an early lead & never looked back from there, playing against a good Old Catton side we'd previously had some great close battles against.
Despite a fairly dominant preformance from our lads they still had to dig deep in defence & stop some promising attacks non more so they Noah J in our goal who pulled off some super saves, one save already a contender for save of the season 👏🏼.
After a few weeks off without a game its a real credit to our lads to come straight back in with such a great preformance, many of the lads trying out different positions but all looking very comfortable in what they were asked to do 👏🏼.

Today was also the first run out for our camera meaning we can now show the goals from the game.
