We are a martial arts school based in Aylesbury with classes for mid teens through to adults. Our mission at the McLeod Academy is helping others, through the vehicle of Martial Arts, to become healthy, happy, confident individuals. The McLeod Academy was founded by Neil and Rachael McLeod: a husband and wife team trained by Bruce Lee's friend and student, Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto. The Academy class

es are taught by Kian La Plain who has been a Senior student at the McLeod Academy for many years. The curriculum at the Academy consists of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai and Submission Wrestling. Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do (JKD) / Filipino Martial Arts (Kali):

The art of Bruce Lee lives on! Sometimes referred to as Jun Fan Gung Fu, Jeet Kune Do translates as 'the way of the intercepting fist'. It includes Kickboxing, Wing Chun and Grappling techniques with an emphasis on intercepting an attack. Kali is from the Philippines and is predominantly a weaponry art though it has an excellent empty hand element with Kickboxing and grappling. Day/Time: Monday & Wednesday, 6.30pm-7.30pm

Muay Thai / Thai Boxing:

The famous art from Thailand. Known for it's heavy kicks, knees, elbows and clinch work, Muay Thai is great for physical fitness as well as self defence. Day/Time: Monday & Wednesday, 7.30pm-8.30pm

Submission Wrestling:

The Submission Wrestling class at the McLeod Academy is a hybrid system consisting of various Wrestling styles, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Japanese Judo and Shooto, Russian Sambo and Filipino Dumog. Day/Time: Mondays, 8.30pm-9.30pm

The McLeod Academy opens again on Monday 1st September 2025! The classes will be taught by Senior McLeod Academy student Kian La Plain. There will be no children's classes, however mid teens through to adults are welcome. Neil & Rachael will be teaching a monthly workshop to check everyone's progress and grade students accordingly.

To all McLeod Academy members/parents,

As some of you may know, in October 2024 we moved 150 miles away to beautiful Dorset which has always been a dream of ours. For the last 10 months we have been travelling weekly to continue teaching classes in Aylesbury.

Though we love teaching, the commute of up to 4 hours each way has become very tiresome and we have decided that it is now time to stop teaching in Aylesbury.

The McLeod Academy has been running since 1994 and has been a wonderful journey. We will miss all of our students dearly though we have to now move on.

Our last classes will be on Tuesday 19th August 2025. We ask that all parents/members make sure that they cancel all future payments from now on. We cannot cancel them at our end so please ensure this is done ASAP.

We hope our teachings have inspired you all to continue your own personal martial arts journey and wish everyone of you all the best for anything you do in the future.

Our Story

Welcome to the McLeod Academy. We are a martial arts school based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire with classes for everyone from the age of 5 onwards. The arts we teach are Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Combat Submission Wrestling and Kids MMA. Our mission at the McLeod Academy is helping others to reach their maximum potential through the vehicle of Martial Arts creating healthy, happy people. The instructors at the McLeod Academy are Neil McLeod and Rachael McLeod. Both are certified instructors under Bruce Lee's protege Sifu/Guro Dan Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts and Sensei Erik Paulson in Combat Submission Wrestling.
