Teacher Anna:
“I’ve been swimming since I was little and have competed in lots of swimming competitions and triathlons over the years. One of my favourite things about teaching swimming is seeing children gain confidence and the big smiles on their faces when they achieve something they’ve been working hard on.

Outside of swimming, I love playing sport - especially tennis and regional netball. I’m currently studying Sport, Business and Criminology, and I love keeping active. I’m also super competitive, especially when it comes to playing games or sports with my family and friends!

"The pool is my happy place and I'm fortunate to have been swimming since I was a baby. During my school years, you'd always find a new swimming badge or certificate in my bag, ready for show and tell!

I work for Swimkidz alongside my corporate career and, when I'm not swimming, you'll find me making memories with my two toddlers.

Swimming is an invaluable life skill and I'm grateful to be able to pass this on to future generations!"

Post from our neighbouring franchise

Sometimes we get messages that remind us exactly why we do what we do. 🥹❤️

I received this message during the current summer break, and it really stopped me in my tracks.

Over the years, we’ve had so many of our swimmers (and their parents!) tell us about moments when they’ve remembered and used the skills they’ve learned in their SwimKidz lessons in a real life situation.

And this is exactly why we practise things again… and again… and again.

I know sometimes some of what we teach can look repetitive. Treading water, floating, getting to the side, staying calm… you might wonder why we keep going over them.

But there is a reason.

We want these skills to become second nature. So that if a child ever finds themselves in a situation where they need them, they don’t have to stop and think about what to do. Their swimming knowledge and water safety skills can take over.

This message from Zach’s mum is a perfect example of that. ❤️

“Hiya Tara, I just wanted to message you and let you know what happened today with Zach. We have a local lake where we live and you can fish on it, Zach for the first time ever fell in and couldn’t touch the bottom. He didn’t panic at all and treaded water fully clothed and shoes on and managed to get himself to the side and hold on for Dave to pull him out, I asked him if he was frightened and he said no I knew what to do because of swimming. I just wanted to let you know that swim kidz quite literally kept him calm and most defiantly stopped him from drowning even though he was quite close to the side he still couldn’t touch the bottom. Swim kidz is most definitely worth every penny in that moment and he got out totally unfazed about what happened xx”

Reading that Zach knew what to do, stayed calm, treaded water fully clothed and with shoes on, and got himself safely to the side is exactly what water safety education is about.

We obviously never want our swimmers to have to use these skills in a real emergency, but knowing that they could is one of the most important things we can give them.

Swimming isn't just about swimming lengths or learning strokes.
It’s about confidence, awareness, water safety and giving children the skills they may one day need to keep themselves safe. 🩵
