⚽🏆 Aylesbury United Tournament Winners! 🏆⚽
We were at the Aylesbury United Tournament on Sunday afternoon, knowing from the outset that it would be a tough competition with some very strong teams involved.
The girls rose to the challenge brilliantly, finishing top of Group A with 13 points, remaining undefeated throughout the group stage, scoring 7 goals and conceding 0. An incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work, determination, and teamwork shown by every player.
In the semi-final, we faced a strong Bromham side who finished second in Group B. It was a closely contested match with chances for both teams, but neither side could find the breakthrough. The game finished 0-0 and had to be decided by a penalty shootout. The girls held their nerve, won the shootout, and booked their place in the final.
The final saw us take on a very strong Little Gaddesdon team, who had also topped their group. This was undoubtedly our toughest game of the day, with both teams creating opportunities in a fiercely competitive match. Our defence and goalkeeper stood strong once again to keep another clean sheet, meaning the tournament would be decided from the penalty spot.
Showing incredible composure and courage, the girls won the penalty shootout and were crowned Aylesbury United Tournament Champions! 🏆
Girls, you were all incredible today and we are so proud of every single one of you! 💙🩵
A special shoutout to Ayla for stepping in goal during the penalty shootouts, and to all the girls who showed tremendous bravery by volunteering to take a penalty. Keziah, you made some absolutely incredible saves throughout the day and played a huge part in the team’s success.
Every single one of you gave everything, worked tirelessly for each other, and represented the team brilliantly. You should all be extremely proud of yourselves. You absolutely smashed it! 💙🩵💙🩵
This is now the third tournament victory of the summer for these girls, which shows just how hard they are working during the off-season and how much they continue to develop as a team.
