We are two dads that really want to help other parents get fit, strong and healthy.

Lucky for us we’re award winning coaches then, innit?

DM “Brightside” and Niall will chat the ear off you.

And if yours are the size of his that would be a couple pounds off on the scales already. 😂

The fittest people you know aren't using secret hacks.

They're not sipping unicorn tea, cold plunging under a full moon, or rubbing Himalayan yak butter on their abs.

They're doing the boring basic stuff.

Walking. Lifting weights. Eating mostly decent food. Getting enough protein. Going to bed at a reasonable hour. Then waking up and doing it all again tomorrow.

The funny thing is that most people spend years searching for the one thing that'll finally work, while completely ignoring the handful of things that have always worked.

The secret isn't that the basics don't work.

The secret is that the basics work so well that they're boring.

And boring, done consistently, beats exciting done occasionally every single time.

💡 Maybe the answer isn't another hack. It's getting ridiculously good at the fundamentals.

No matter if we’re training well, our eatings on point and we’re ticking every box going, we’re still going to be up against it if the summer social schedule keeps putting a drink in your hand.

And that’s ok. As long as you aren’t beating yourself up about weight loss.

If you’re looking to lose weight then limiting alcohol is going to help, so during your fat loss phase lock in.

And during the enjoying life phase, accept in this moment there’ll probably not be too many pound off…but it’ll be good craic.

The sun comes out for three days in Ireland and suddenly everybody thinks they have to choose between enjoying their life or “being good.”

Absolute eejit behaviour.

If your nutrition and training plan falls apart the minute there’s a barbecue, an ice cream with the kids, a beer garden, or a few drinks in the back garden with your mates, then the problem probably isn’t you.

It’s your plan.

And here's why.....

The whole point of looking after yourself is so you can actually enjoy your life more.

Not sit at a barbecue eating dry chicken out of a Tupperware tub like you’re preparing for a bodybuilding show in Vegas.

Not skipping memories because MyFitnessPal says you’ve only 312 calories left.

Not panicking because you had a couple of drinks in the sunshine.

The people who succeed long term with their health and fitness usually aren’t the most rigid.

They’re the most adaptable.

They know how to enjoy themselves without turning one burger and a few cocktails into a two week spiral.

They understand that flexibility isn’t a weakness. It’s sustainability.

It’s being able to enjoy the sunny evenings, the spontaneous plans, the weekends away, the birthday cake, the barbecue smoke floating through the estate like a siren song to every oul fella within a 5 mile radius, AND STILL make progress.

Because real life doesn’t happen in perfect conditions.

And honestly, if getting healthier means missing out on half the meaningful moments in your life, what are we even doing here?

A good plan should fit around your life.

Not force your life to shrink around the plan.

If you need a better approach that doesn’t completely break down every time the sun comes out, give us a shout. 🌞

Please, for the love of God, bear this in mind!! ❤️

There’s only one way to become bulletproof to the scepticism of youth and that’s look after yourself right now.

Eat well.
Train hard.
Be consistent.

And take some more videos of you being fit, healthy and active so you can show the grandkids in 40 years time!

𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇…

#1 It’ll work out, even if it doesn’t.

You’re a serious man for overthinking. Worrying about what’ll happen. How things will go. What people will think. In fact you probably spend more time thinking about doing things than actually doing them.

So, my young friend, my advice to you is to think less and do more. Do the things that’s eating up the space between your ears in the knowledge that the only way to find out if it’s been worth all that mental energy is by DOING THE THING!

And if it wasn’t worth it, at least you found out so you aren’t wasting any more energy thinking about it!

#2 Sometimes people are mean. It isn’t your fault.

People can be dicks. Now and again you’ll find yourself in their crosshairs. And it’ll be for no other reason than you happened to be the right person at the wrong time or that you being happy is reminding them of how sad they are.

You’ll come to see that people rarely hate down. And real friends don’t make tear you down, they build you up. Those are the people you want to spend your time with!

#3 Do more, because one day you won’t be able to.

I’m not saying do everything all at once because next thing you’re dead, little man. I’m just saying the older you get the more responsibilities on your plate and the trickier it’ll become to find the time and energy, ya know?

When you’re young the days feel long, time seems to trickle by like a lazy river. The older you get the more that river turns into a waterfall.

And when I say do more, I mean DO, not try. Do it and stick with it til you know if it’s for you or not.

Do a martial art. It’ll help you become more confident.

Learn an instrument. It’ll help you become more confident.

Pick a language, go to classes and make that thing your second tongue. It’ll help you become more confident.

Use the time you have on your side to become a confident person and from there, the world is your oyster because you’ll have proof that you can DO whatever you want.

One of my favourite podcast episodes to ever record. Thanks so much to Deidre for sharing her incredible story.

If you’ve never listened before I couldn’t recommend enough taking a half an hour of your day to hear about the life changing challenges Deirdre has overcome since a fateful day at the start of 2022.

Listen to this episode from Are you well? on Spotify. Join the boys as they speak to Deirdre McCann, a mother, a wife, a teacher, an active gym goer and someone who's been through a life-changing battle with Guillain Barre Syndrome.

Hold your horses, pal.

You’re telling me that even though YOU KNOW that by training regularly, giving the biscuit tin a miss every now and again and pulling back on the mid-week wines you’ll feel healthier, be fitter and most probably look a bit better.

You know all that and you’re still sitting there, scrolling, doing nothing about it?

Let me tell you a short story.

Once upon a time there was a man just like you, he rose with the sun and hit the hay when the moon came to town.

Until one day he didn’t get up. Because he’s neglected his health so much the old ticker stopped doing its thing. And now he’s dead.

Ok, maybe not my best story but how’s about instead of seeing if the end comes true you decide it’s worth seeing what life might be like if you did the things you know will make a difference.

Add quality to your life now, add years to your life later. Be around to watch your kids have kids.

Don’t just watch the world go by and be a passenger in your journey. Take the wheel, be brave and make sure the next turn takes you towards where YOU want to be.
