Apparell Cog Final - Result

Gordon Band v Volkan Gunes

Floodlights were on for this eagerly anticipated final.

Volkan started the better, taking the first set convincingly.

Gordon came back strong, taking the second set.

Extra 3 ends played for winner, and by ends won.

First end Volkan had all 4 bowls lying, however only the one point for winning end.

Second end won by Gordon, so 1 each with 3rd extra end deciding the winner.

3rd extra end and both had bowls close to touching the jack, with his last bowl Gordon knocked out Volkan's closest bowl, a worthy bowl to win the final.

Well done to Gordon, and unlucky to Volkan on a close encounter.

Big Game Week at the Auchterarder Bowling Club.

Gents Championship Semi-final Kenny Rogalski v Volkan Gunes, this Wednesday 9th September, 7.00pm start, to see who Gordon Band will face in the Final.

Come along and support the Gents, floodlights may be in operation, excellent facility for the Club to have.

Pool League commences this Thursday, we will post fixtures for each Month.

Home games, bar will be open 7.00pm - 10.00pm, all members and members guests welcome.

After our successful Triples yesterday.

This week will see some more of our finals.

Tue 8th September - Apparell Cog Final - Gordon Band v Volkan Gunes.

Burgh Triples Saturday 5th September.

6 teams of mixed Triples contested for the Burgh Triples Title played over one day commencing at 12.00pm and finishing at 6.00pm.

Glorious weather welcomed the players, and even a Flypast by spitfire mid way through the event, which seen an influx of visitors to the green, a healthy crowd of young and old.

Back to the bowls and the format was a round robin and 5 ends each game, 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw, top 2 teams to contest the final.

Tightly fought encounters throughout the league format, and heads seeing bowls all over the jack. Green was running well with swings both hands.

Undefeated triple of Andy, Janette and Malcolm (9 points) to contest final versus Muriel, Steve and Kenny W (8 points), a keenly contested final was expected.

Malcolm's rink 1 up playing last end and Kenny's rink lying 2 shots, with one bowl to play and knocking out one bowl, so an extra end required.

Andy and Janette all over the jack on the extra end, and with last bowl in hand Kenny narrowly missing, leaving Andy, Janette and Malcolm as victors.

A thoroughly enjoyable day, and as per the pairs format earlier in the season, credit to Match Secretary Kenny Whyte, for coming up with these one day events.

Thanks to all players and visitors, Steve Preston for bar duties, Kenny Whyte for sandwiches, and for Kevin Tong celebrating a special birthday, so that we could all enjoy some chocolate cake.
