๐ Weโve seen lots of schools and educational groups sharing messages about cold water shock and water safety recently, which is fantastic to see.
๐ซง As these important messages are shared more widely, itโs vital that the information is accurate and helps children understand how to stay safe around water.
Some key water safety messages for children:
๐ Always stay with a trusted adult near water
๐ Never enter the water without permission and supervision
๐ Even on warm days, water can be dangerously cold and may cause cold water shock
๐ If you fall into the water unexpectedly, remember to Float to Live, lean back, keep your airway clear and try to stay calm until your breathing settles
๐ Stay away from the edges of rivers, canals, reservoirs, lakes and docks
