Working the baton this evening from the overhead and horizontal strike., making space and closing ground. On the ground was about disarming or controlling the weapon to gain advantage.

Great class.

Working the rear naked choke (hadaka jime) this evening. Also, the ladies were out in force!

Great evening with the team. Started with a bit of a beasting, everyone enjoyed that much I said we'd make time to do it again at the end. Lots of yellow and green belt techniques in between.

An evening of bokken. Thought I'd go easy on them as it was a bit warm.

Mandy practicing her grading techniques, coming along nicely. More sharpness and confidence then she's got it.

Great class last night. We had Bo vs tonfa, whilst looking at how kata and bunkai are the same yet completely different.
Kata and bunkai are closely related concepts in traditional martial arts, particularly in styles like Ju Jitsu, Karate and kobudo.

Kata (型) – Kata is a pre-arranged sequence of movements, strikes, blocks, and stances that simulate combat scenarios. It is practiced solo and serves as a way to internalise techniques, develop muscle memory, and refine form, balance, and power.

Bunkai (分解) – Bunkai means "analysis" or "breakdown." It involves interpreting the movements within a kata to understand their practical applications in self-defense. Practitioners practice bunkai with partners to apply the techniques in a real-world context.

All in all, everyone had great fun and learnt lots along the way.
