Aston Clinton Tournament – Hot Weather Guidance ☀️🌡️
Parents,
With warm weather forecast for the tournament, we’d like to remind everyone of some simple steps to help keep our players safe and comfortable throughout the day.
The Tournament Committee will be continually assessing conditions and has provisions in place to help mitigate the risks associated with hot weather. At present, there is no official guidance requiring football activity to be cancelled due to the forecast temperatures. However, player welfare remains our priority and conditions will be monitored throughout the event.
Please help by ensuring your child:
1. Arrives Well Hydrated
Players should start the day already hydrated. Waiting until they feel thirsty means dehydration has already begun. Please encourage them to drink plenty of water throughout the morning before arriving.
2. Has Sunscreen Applied
Please apply sunscreen before leaving home and consider sending sunscreen with your child if appropriate for reapplication during the day.
3. Brings Plenty of Water
Every player should have a clearly labelled water bottle. Regular hydration is essential, and water remains the best option. Players should continue drinking throughout the day, not just during matches.
4. Brings Suitable Snacks
Hydrating snacks can help maintain energy levels and hydration. Good options include:
• Watermelon
• Cucumber
• Oranges
• Apples
• Grapes
Frozen fruit and ice lollies can also be a great way to stay cool.
5. Dresses for the Conditions
Lightweight, light-coloured clothing can help players stay cooler between matches. A spare change of clothes may also be beneficial for players who perspire heavily.
6. Speaks Up if Feeling Unwell
Please remind your child to tell a coach, team manager, parent or tournament official immediately if they feel dizzy, weak, sick, excessively tired or unwell at any point during the day.
7. Cools Down After Activity
Players should continue moving gently after matches rather than sitting down immediately. Walking and staying hydrated can help reduce the risk of dizziness and fatigue.
The tournament organisers have measures in place to support player welfare, including regular monitoring of conditions and appropriate precautions where required. We ask all parents to play their part by ensuring players arrive prepared for a warm day of football.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fantastic tournament.
Please be responsible and stay safe 💙⚽️
