DUNNERHOLME JUNIORS

25 Juniors took part in the 3rd John Diamond Memorial Competition on Monday 15th June on a lovely spring evening. The format was split into 2 competitions (9-Hole Comp & Sixes). All juniors were divided into teams to give a fair balance.

9 Hole Competition
15 competitors played a single Stableford format with some playing 9 holes for the first time.

Result
1st Place - Morgan Postlethwaite – 22pts
2nd Place – Jonah Rigg – 20pts
3rd Place – Annie Coward – 16pts (card play off)
4th Place – Arthur Brough – 16pts
NTP on 4th – Jonah Rigg

Sixes Competition
10 juniors played with over half playing their first competitive match

1st Place – Maggie Butler – 37pts
2nd Place – Leo Darby- 35pts (card play off)
3rd Place – Libby Tyson – 35pts
4th Place – Kiaan Lowcock – 33pts
NTP on 10th – Leo Darby
Beat the Coach – Putting Challenge (10th Hole)

For a bit of fun, beat the coach challenge was done by juniors and parents alike, putting from distance with the ‘Indoor golf equipment’, quite a challenge!!!!

Winners all receiving a bag of sweets: - Leo Darby, Maggie Butler, Maya Tyson, Elizabeth Dixon, Lady Captain, Rachel Ritchie, Jamie Butler & Jodie Tyson.

All juniors were presented with goody bags kindly donated by Rachel Butler.
Thanks to Rachel & Holly for providing hotdogs and snacks afterwards.
To all the coaches and parents who supported the evening.
But most importantly a massive thank you to the Diamond Family (Holly, Mark & Nick) plus Terry Stokes for their kind generosity for the juniors. As an expression of gratitude from the Juniors, Mr Captain presented both Holly & Rachel with flowers and Mark, Terry & Nick Dunnerholme Golf shirts.

JUNIOR 6's MATCH
Blessed with another sunny Sunday afternoon, Dunnerholme acquitted themselves well on an amazing Ulverston course. In another tightly fought contest as the standard of golf by all juniors participating is a joy to watch, Dunnerholme Greens managed to claim 1st place by a single point!!!

Overall results
1st – Dunnerholme Greens – 122pts

2nd – Ulverston – 121pts

3rd – Grange Fell – 118pts

4th – Dunnerholme Oranges – 107pts

5th – Barrow – 104pts

The juniors play the final round at Dunnerholme on Sunday 21st June in Matchday 4.

Furness Area Past Lady Captains Trophy was played at Dunnerholme GC today with 24 past lady captains from Barrow GC, Furness GC, Grange GC and Ulverston GC enjoying the course and the warmer weather.
Winner and retaining the trophy was Sue Kirkby from Barrow GC after a card play off on back 6 from Hilary Spencer, Grange GC. Both ladies scoring 36 points. Nearest the Pin on 14th was Chris Burton Dunnerholme GC and ‘guess the score’ was won by Annette Park from Furness GC
The Past Lady Captains Trophy passes on to Furness GC in 2027.

The Junior section held a handicap competition. Max Porter and Morgan Postlethwaite (Junior Captain), along with 9 other juniors went out and played in a competition over 9 holes, and filled in their first card towards gaining a handicap. It was tough conditions with the heat on Monday but all juniors continued and finished all 9 holes. Great Camaraderie too.
