Hello my lords and ladies, my pleasure to meet you all!
I'm Suzanne Dempster. Of course you already know that bit about me π.
I thought it was time I properly introduced myself and took you on a tour of the life of a lady with a mission!
In my professional life I wear two caps. I am a fitness professional who started 'Discocise-The Exercise Disco' and I specialise in exercise for those who want to enjoy exercise - rather than endure it!
I am also known locally as 'The EFT lady'.
I've had a very exciting life but its not been without it's challenges. I was a boozy student but fought my way through a degree in Optometry. I knew I wouldn't test eyes all my life... not for me that one!
I set up a successful business in the events sector, whilst locuming, so I tolerated my day job as an eye person for a good 12 years.
I love Florida (blue skies and warmth) so my late husband and I thought nothing of trying our luck at buying a house to rent in Orlando (then the housing market crashed... eek)! But we loved visiting it, so no worries.
For those of you that twigged I said 'late' husband, here is the abridged story. Sadly Chris had a Cancer diagnosis and passed in 2012. From there it was all change. I had given up work to care for him during his 18 month battle. No more business, no more testing eyes, villa sold and total bewilderment.
After a complete stress and anxiety breakdown from that journey I started to recover in 2018. It gets a bit boring for a few years whilst I retrained in the fitness sector. But then the excitement started again.
I started Discocise in May 2023! Its a REAL disco with new music every week (60s, 70s, 80s and 90s). Discocise is an exercise class that isn't choreographed... just a 60 minute slot every week for people to dance like it's a Saturday night... but in your trainers. I always wanted to be a DJ! π€©π€©
I've studied and studied and now also take chair based exercise classes at my local AgeUK. I'm starting home visit sessions and have just finished the study for starting Discocise in care homes. Fun and exercise in the same sentence if I'm involved!
I now love what I do. I love the people. I love the comeraderie and social side. I'm just me buzzing about bringing energy and fun back to those that have never really done structured exercise.
I also do Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) but more on that another day. I'm running out of room π and I don't want to bore you too much.
If you think I can help with classes, ideas or you just fancy a dance on a Monday night in Ashton-U-Lyne do reach out. My inbox is always open.
I hope you are all having a fabulous, positive and prosperous week!
Suzanne π
