We are sorry to inform you all that with a red weather warning in place, we have taken the decision to cancel Sailability this week.

The forecast temperatures in the area are excessively high for us to operate safely and so our senior instructors have made the decision to cancel sailing on both days.

You will be receiving an email today with details about the cancellation, please read it and inform us if you intend to come as usual next week.

We hope you will understand that we don’t make these decisions lightly! We look forward to seeing you next week 😊

You will have seen the forecast for extremely hot weather this week. We are still planning to run sessions, but please bear with us as volunteers will need to take breaks from the heat.

Remember that there is not much shade out on the water. If you want to cancel your session, please do let us know in advance…. We understand that it might be a bit too warm!

🧢 please wear a hat
👕 dress appropriately
💧 stay hydrated, bring a water bottle
☀️ wear suncream and reapply through the day

What goes on behind the scenes before each session is just as important as what happens on the water!⛵

Whitefriars Sailability Group recently shared this photo highlighting what preparation takes place before each session, including the team working together to launch and rig the boats, prepare the safety boats and get all the buoyancy aids ready.

Don't forget to thank your local club's volunteers for getting everything ready before you head onto the water!🌊

You will almost certainly have seen (and heard!) Antony at Whitefriars.

He was asked by the RYA Sailability team to help make this brilliant video about how sailing with us has changed his life in so many ways.

Antony is now a qualified Dinghy Instructor and spends a lot of his time teaching and developing sailors from our school groups. He is also sailing with the RS Venture Connect team and competing at international events with Toby this year. In between all that, he finds time to work with Blind Sailing UK too and is a valuable part of their coaching squad 🙂

Very very proud to have you as part of our team Antony, we love the banter and the fun that you bring to the group too 😀

As always, we are indebted to our charity supporters for giving us the opportunity to develop sailors like Antony into instructors and international competitors. Thank you all ☺️

It’s not always about boats….

Have you seen the lovely pair of Oyster Catchers this week? The little chick is adorable and growing every day! He tried to take his first swim this week, but it wasn’t a great success and luckily a safety boat was nearby to return him to dry land 🥰

The parents are very protective of their little one, we’re hoping they keep him (her?!?) safe so that we can continue to watch the chick grow up 🥰

You will often hear us say volunteers are the heartbeat of Sailability... and that's because it's true!💙

So many different types of people give up their precious time to ensure their local Sailability club can continue to provide life-changing opportunities for anyone wanting to get on the water⛵

Volunteers come in all shapes and sizes too - whether it's instructing and coaching, preparing the boats, helping with memberships, providing a warm welcome, spreading the word of your club, or even providing those vital hot drinks and homemade bakes, you are all making a difference!☕🍰

No matter the role, each is vital and we here at RYA Sailability want to say a huge THANK YOU!!!⭐

Before you all arrive to sail with us, there is a lot to do to prepare!
Everyone works together to launch and rig the boats, prepare the safety boats and get all the buoyancy aids ready.

It’s great being part of such a fun team 😊This week our volunteers were treated to ice lollies in the sunshine 🍦
