Ogston Sailing Club Ogston Sailing Club
(1)

Set in the heart of the country on the South Yorkshire / Derbyshire border, approximately half way between Sheffield and Derby, Ogston Sailing Club offers racing and sail training on 180 acres of water in a beautiful location. For over 40 years the club has been training our members to sail and see them go on to success competing at events both Nationally and Internationally, as well as enjoying a

n exciting club race programme and social calendar. For people looking to join the club and learn to sail, we offer Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited Level 1 & 2 sail training courses for adults and children, and offer Powerboat courses up to instructor level. Once the sailing bug has got you it is not unknown for people to progress to teaching other new members in their turn, if you enjoy working with people and like to pass on skills and knowledge then the club also runs Dinghy Instructor courses to help you do this. Sailing is both a hobby and a sport, and whilst the rules of sailing can seem complex at first, the club is committed to help new members take up racing with a minimum of fuss and kerfuffle. Along side the Learn to Sail course we offer informal race training, a novice race series and help and support to ensure that your new hobby remains an enjoyable experience.

A big well done to both of our teams who have been competing at the 24hr race up in Southport.
There's a couple of trophies coming back, as one of the boats was the first Enterprise, and also won the Midnight trophy.
They'll be a few tired people needing a long sleep tonight!

We've had the fantastic sight of the Albacore fleet at the club for our Open event this weekend.
Some greating racing, well done to everyone who took part.
The win went to Scaling Dam's pairing of Judy and Paul Armstrong, who held off the challenge of the home pairing of Simon Law and Matilda Harrison. Third place was taken by Paul Gimson and Helen Baines from Rudyard Lake.

Firstly well done to everyone who competed at the Enterprise Association Inlands this weekend. The club loves to see the close and exciting racing which the fleet always provides.
It was the home combination of Martin and Abigail Honnor, who after a mixed first day found their form on day 2 to take the title. They just pipped fellow Ogston sailors Russell and James Short to the post, and in an excellent 3rd place were the pairing of Jonathan Woodward and Mhairi Ogilvie from South Staffs SC.
