Dive In and Make a Difference with Northumbria Scuba Divers!
Are you a passionate Open Water Scuba Instructor looking to share your love for the underwater world and give back to the diving community? Northumbria Scuba Divers, a thriving and friendly club based in the heart of the North East, is seeking a dedicated volunteer to join our team!
About Us:
Northumbria Scuba Divers is a vibrant club committed to fostering a safe, enjoyable, and educational diving experience for all our members. We regularly organise dives in local waters and further afield, run training courses, and host social events. Our aim is to promote responsible diving practices and build a strong community of enthusiastic divers.
The Role:
We are looking for a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) to volunteer their time and expertise to help us train new divers and enhance the skills of existing members. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the planning and delivery of Open Water Diver courses.
* Supervising and guiding students during confined and open water training sessions.
* Providing constructive feedback and support to help divers develop their skills and confidence.
* Ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and diving standards.
* Contributing to a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Requirements:
* Current and valid Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) certification from preferably PADI
* diving insurance, included
* A passion for diving and teaching.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A commitment to safety and best diving practices.

We have a unique position available we are seeking a PADI instructor to continue our training programs, this unique individual should be interested in student capability over certifications, we are involved in a number of community projects and working with youngsters with learning challenges is a must. please drop us a DM if you are interested so we can discuss. We recently held our EFR course and all the participants including the scholarship students did a fantastic job. The day was filled with learning and laughter, we were especially proud to welcome ruby our youngest participant, proving you’re never too young to start learning the essential skills of life. Delivered by first responders with a wealth of information and years of experience. Well done to all those involved

Last night was the presentation evening for our scholarship students, we would all like to say well do done and congratulations to, Matthew Janet, Ellie and Emily. We presented their awards at Ashington rugby club on the 26/01/24. These students have embodied the monika “zero to hero” their hard work, tenacity and general positive attitude, should serve as a shining example to us all, in their journey from try dive to rescue diver and with nitrox and deep specialities. Many challenges have been overcome and there have been wobbles along the way but they have shone through. Despite the lack of interest from the local press, these students are the future of our sport, and need to be encouraged before we reach an insurmountable hurdle of decline in the industry. Our scholarship programme is also aimed at those who may not be able to access our wonderful sport. So well done to all involved. It also goes without saying that we should send a very special Thankyou to our partners in this project Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, PADI, DAPA Workwear and AP Diving without whom this project would never be achievable. We should also make a very very special mention of Derek Johnson for administrating the finances and being ‘mr shouty” on the rescue course, stu knox Divemaster, Jamie Tibbles Divemaster and last but not least Dave Parkin Divemaster without portfolio. All of whom have had a significant part in the scholarship process

Happy new year everyone

Here at Northumbria Scuba Divers, we have had another awesome year, having become a PADI recreational centre our little club has grown exponentially, allowing us to run our scholarship programme. We would like to thank everyone for their support over the last twelve months, and we would like to wish all our friends and supporters a very merry Christmas, and wonderful and prosperous new year. We will see you all after the festivities.
