We are so proud to have Nicola on board, she will be a massive asset in mentoring the younger squad members. Nicolaās yard facilties are incredible and were used as a pre-training hub for the team prior to travelling to Aachen, we are proud to have been part of this massive project.
From Nicola:
āNot being able to see makes me more acutely aware of how every surface rides differently. Some pull you in and some are too slippy. This means the horseās stride can become quick or slow. As I rely on feel to judge the size of the arena, I need to pick up on these nuances very quickly.
On the arrival day at the World Championships in Aachen the warmup arenas were perfect but he competition arena felt deep. Whereas in March during the test event when it was unexpectedly dry, it was the warmup arenas that threatened to ride deep by the end of the day until corrected. The management at Aachen was on the case as you would expect from the worldās best equestrian competition venue and all surfaces were constantly watered, harrowed and perfected throughout the day.
It is not just top-class competition horses that need well maintained, level and correctly textured surfaces to work on, every horse deserves this if they are to stay sound, safe, happy and healthy.ā
