May 2026 Round-up

On 3 May, we had inter-club sparring, hosted by TKO Folkestone, to prepare two of our boxers, who then competed at the Swale Boxing ABC Open Show on 8 May. Ashford’s Luther Read-Bunclark and Charlie English showcased their skills. Luther fought in his second skills bout against Apex ABC’s Frank Smith, while Charlie competed in his third skills bout against Sandwich ABC’s Harvey Cunningham. Both boxers delivered impressive performances in their skills bouts and were warmly applauded by the crowd. They truly represented their clubs well!

On 17 May, Ashford coaches Jamie Carter, Andy Wilford, and Jake Fletcher, along with Tilly Spokes and Shannon Collins, travelled to Newcastle for the National School Championships. During this two-day event with three rings, Tilly and Shannon competed in the finals, showcasing some of England’s top talent. Tilly narrowly lost in a points decision to Darci Taylor from Golden Rings ABC in the 46-48kg category after a hard-fought bout. Shannon also fought valiantly against two-time National Champion Ashleigh Mae Newton from RG, ABC, in the 52-54kg category, but was edged out by the reigning champion. Both girls performed with pride, demonstrating their competitive spirit. The club is proud to have them as female representatives for both the club and England amateur boxing.

On 19 May, we hosted inter-club sparring with the amateur boxing club, The Pit, to support our boxers’ development.

We look forward to winding down and enjoying a nice summer break whilst ticking over until September.

All sessions will run as usual throughout the summer unless otherwise stated, and will always be communicated via our social media sites.
