You don’t have to hike for miles over rugged ground to enjoy quiet beautiful areas that capture the magical essence of Dartmoor. If it's cycling you love and the steep hills put you off, our e-bikes will make Dartmoor accessible on two wheels. Whether it’s a gentle 3-mile walk for a family outing, a 9-mile exploration of remote Bronze Age remains, or a 20-mile ride across high moors and hidden valleys, we will plan the route to meet your needs and interests, and provide a guide to accompany you.

Another walk in warm spring-like sunshine - we could hardly believe it. We walked to Bench Tor and then down into lovely White Wood which cloaks the slopes below. There we saw a tree creeper which was a first for all of us. Then we crossed the dam and walked back around Venford Reservoir - definitely full at the moment. Next walk is on Sunday 8th March: https://www.dartmoorwalksthisway.co.uk/walks/walks-for-locals

A very impressive collection of events and activities on offer. I'm not doing any Festival walks this year as not sure I'll be here, but there are plenty of other excellent guides offering walks -- and lots more.

Dartmoor Outdoor Festival, programme with walks, talks, workshops, adventures and much more.

At last a day of blue sky and sunshine without even a hint of a raindrop. We walked south from Postbridge following the East Dart for a stretch, then walking through historic Pizwell and then Soussons Forest to Golden Dagger Mine. The ruined miners' dry made an excellent lunch stop. Then over Challacombe Down (said hello to two very smartly dressed donkeys), back through Soussons Forest and the hidden little lanes around Lower Merripit. Very wet underfoot but gorgeous everywhere else!

Two hours of sunshine, followed by a glorious Imbolc full moon: a good start to February. To celebrate, I explored a route up the O Brook on the eastern side as far as Hooten Wheals and the Henroost, then back down on the other side passing by Horse Ford Cross. Finished at Combestone Tor where the moon had just risen.

Today we had a very special walk in memory of Maggie Rosier, who sadly died in July. She had been coming on my walks since the very beginning in 2012 and was such delightful, warm company. We walked around Houndtor Vale, admiring the colours and exchanging memories of Maggie. She smiled down on us with unexpected bursts of sunshine. Thanks to all who came, particularly her partner Tom.

Simply glorious day walking on the high moor: from Scoriton to Chalk Ford, on to Huntingdon Warren for a lunch stop by the ruined farmhouse, side trip down the Western Wallabrook to visit Keble Martin's Chapel at 666 666, then up to the Heap of Sinners & down the Avon valley to Huntingdon Cross. Thrilled to hear a grasshopper warbler by the river, & then a cuckoo as we came down to Lud Gate. Cuckoo flowers, primroses & violets lined the path down to Higher Coombe. A perfectly beautiful spring day.

Flowering gorse, primroses, celandine, violets -- and so many birds singing. Spring has definitely arrived on Dartmoor. This was the 4th sunny walk in a row. We climbed over Cox Tor, went down the Colly Brook (Peter Tavy Brook) valley, and returned over Smeardon Down. A glorious mix of woodland, meadows, and open moorland in just over 6 miles.

What a Sunday! Cold wind but no cloud in the sky. We walked from Shapley Common to Grimspound, down to Natsworthy Gate and back along the historic Mariners Way. Next Sunday walk will be on 30th March.

Thanks to the hardy souls who came out today in a biting easterly wind to enjoy the delights of Walkhampton Common. We visited the church, then climbed up onto the moor via a beautiful walled track, joined the old railway line as far as Ingra Tor (the quarry was a reasonably sheltered lunch spot) and returned over the top of Leedon Tor, rewarded for our persistence by a full rainbow as we battled up the hill in the teeth of the wind.

Finally made it up to the moor & there was still a bit of snow left in places - enough to create lovely black and white, monochrome vistas. Gorgeous!
