Well where do I start 🤷🏻‍♂️ the last ever Tonfanau Road Racing which is such a shame. What other circuits can you go out on with tyres as muddy as this and in a setting such as this. A road in the middle of a field which used to be an Army base. The friendliest paddock and the best racing.

The weather was wet and drying wet all day. Never have I done so many wheel changes.

Supersport - I managed to qualify 5th out of 15 which I was absolutely gobsmacked by.

Race 1 was on full wets and managed to finish 4th after Rob Williams kindly gave up his place after spinning the rear up on the start. Red flagged after 7 laps

Race 2 was not so good. Started 4th on the grid and was looking forward for a few good battles. Went to start and the bike bogged so the whole grid went past me. Got the hairpin and it bogged again. Managed to claw back some places and finished 8th. Red flagged due to weather after 6 laps.

Turns out the power lead to the power commander had broken off so the bike wasn’t fuelling properly.

Forgotten Era up to 250cc

Qualified 3rd in class but the bike was misbehaving. It wouldn’t go into 3rd gear and the issue which has been plaguing us all season returned with the bike failing to get into the power after a long corner.

Race 1 had a good start but the gear issue tied in with the lack of power out of the corners was a nightmare. Finished 4th in class

Race 2 similar to race 1 but kind of worked a way around the gear issue so it wasn’t too bad. Power out of corners still the major issue. It’s as if I’m holding a constant throttle rather than accelerating. Got pipped to the line by a fraction of a wheel by the race leader on a 1000cc but cheekily did the final lap and I’m really glad I did as it was my last ever lap around the circuit 😭. Managed to finish 3rd in class.

Huge thank you to Huw Huws for the brake calipers on the 675. Those combined with the uprated master cylinder and forks nicely sorted by Michael Pinches made a huge difference! Also for my paddock buddy and bad influence Paul Tye

Motorbike Mad attended Tonfanau's final motorcycle race meeting and discovered that the little Welsh circuit was not defeated by one single problem. It survived for 34 seasons because generations of volunteers cared enough to keep rebuilding it - until the pressures finally became too great.

📅 FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST
🕒 Gates open at 3PM

🎟️ Spectator entry is £10, plus £5 per person, per night for camping.
💷 ENTRY IS CASH ONLY.

🏍️ SUNDAY 30TH AUGUST – RACE DAY
⏰ Practice begins at 9AM
🏁 Racing begins at approximately 12PM
🏆 Racing finishes at approximately 5PM

🚨 MONDAY 31ST AUGUST
🏁 The circuit closes to the public at 11AM.

All competitors and spectators must be OFF SITE by 11AM.

Really sad that this will be the last race held at Tonfanau Road Racing. I had my first ever 600 race here which is actually captured in the pictures!! I won my first championship here (somehow!! Newcomers Championship) It’s never been my best track but certainly one of my favourites and probably the closest to road racing I’ll ever get.

A couple of hours fettling with the 250 yesterday morning after she was underperforming during the last race. Luckily Mr 2 Stroke aka Paul Tye was at hand and we managed to get the bike producing power again and found the lost 5hp! Thank you Paul!!!

Not long now until the last ever Tonfanau Road Racing so need to make it a good one!!

Awesome news for the final ever round of Tonfanau Road Racing. Full grids will make for amazing racing and a day packed full of all kind of bikes and sidecars. Such a shame it has to end but hopefully it’ll finish on a high. Support it if you can and join in giving it a great send off. I’ll be there in the Open 600 on the Triumph Daytona 675 and in the Forgotten Era up to 250cc on the Yamaha TZR250.
