It has been an incredibly sad weekend in Derbyshire with five motorcyclists losing their lives in two incidents. This comes just weeks after four others lost their lives in two incidents.

Of course we do not speculate as to the cause of these incidents, but the unsatisfactory part is that the outcome of the police investigation will only become known when the inquests take place, sometimes many months or even years after, at which point when any actions from the 'authorities' are too late and ineffective.

As we remind our bikers to ride safe and legal with patience and courtesy, we appeal to all bikers everywhere to do the same.

Nine biker's killed in just a few weeks within North Derbyshire is a tragedy.

Perhaps Derbyshire Constabulary, who have a great record of engaging positively with bikers, through BikeSafe, Biker Down UK and UpRight Derbyshire, will have some further activity planned to help prevent further motorcyclist fatalities. Better than waiting for direction from HM Coroner.
