Do I need to do cardio to loose weight??

The short answer is no!!! If you’re trying to lose body fat then the best advice I can offer is to be in calorie deficit, although hiit training will burn calories the amount of energy you consume during that workout will have to be replenished by food.

We don’t need to come out of the gym half dead to get results. Ask yourself this question?? Is this sustainable for a long period of time and the majority will say no!!
That’s why many join a program and tail off after a few weeks/months. We then go full circle and come back to where we started not achieving our goals.

I’m not saying don’t do cardio, it’s a great way to release endorphins and increase fitness levels, but if our aim is to lose body fat then we need to look at what we are consuming on a day to day basis.

The truth why I stopped bench pressing 💁‍♂️

Shoulder injuries have played a massive part in the reason I decided to stop doing bench pressing and look to find an alternative training regime that enabled me to stay active and train consistently.

The fact is most people who train regularly and bench press develop shoulder injuries due to over working the front delts.

We get emotionally attached to the exercise as we believe this is the best way to develop the chest! And this is what we’ve been told by the fitness industry!!

If we think how the chest pectoral muscles work we would rethink this. A better exercise to develop chest would be a cable press or cable fly as this movement allows full contraction and expansion of the fibres 👌

A great exercise to try for developing quads!!!
For safe load and tension throughout the movement

The rope allows you to fully bend the knee comfortably when performing the exercise giving full range of motion, this is impossible for most when performing traditional sissy squats.
The greatest amount of resistance occurs during mid range of motion completely changing the resistance curve when compared to standing sissy squats

Performed here using a climbers harness this can also be done with trx straps or a rope 👌

It’s the safe way to train!
There’s less load put on joints and tendons keeping you in the gym and away from the treatment room. As these methods don’t have a negative effect on your central nervous system it’s possible to train more consistently which is the key to promote change in your physique.

More weight does not mean better results!
If we concentrate on performing the exercise correctly with perfect form the amount of weight we actually need to promote growth is considerably lower than what we are lead to believe. This is a misconception of bodybuilding! People often fall into the trap of trying to impress their peers in the gym by lifting too heavy risking injury. Consistency is key 🔑

If we train consistently and keep our diets 90% in check then we will get to our goals!

My first client started off her journey unhappy with her weight and has tried all different types of training and diets without any joy!

Since we started training 8 weeks ago she has now lost 20lb

We’ve achevied this with some tweaks to her diet keeping her in calorie deficit along with weight resistance exercise’s to tone up.

So what is calorie deficit

basically putting in less energy than what you put out!!!
I gained weight being in calorie deficit said no one ever!!!
Whether you want to track your calories and have a less restrictive diet or completely change the way you think about food. Both work but one is more sustainable than the other. There are so many added health benefits to healthy eating such as mental health, hair, skin and feeling more energised. Personally speaking when I eat heavy dense processed foods it tends to make me feel sluggish.
Try eating a higher protein diet to feel fuller for longer 👍
Reduce the amount of dense carbohydrates such as breads, pasta and rice that break down quickly into glucose & try and incorporate some more low density carbs such as veggies which have a lower glycemic conversion, meaning you won’t get that wild swing in your blood sugar 💁‍♂️

If you pick the right exercises you will see results faster!!!
I was once one of these people who thought the bench press was the best way to develop the pectoral muscles!! It’s not about what you lift but more how you lift 😉, if you put thought into the movement, concentrating on contracting & expansion of the muscle fibres your results will be 💯 better. Combine this with a nutritional diet and consistency & your body will change!
