Venture Cycling

Venture Cycling Award winning cycle training for all 5+. Over 10 years experience of spreading the love of cycling! I want to ensure cycling is available to all. Kelly.

I've always loved cycling and I enjoy road riding, hitting the mountain bike trails and family rides on a Sunday afternoon. I'm a qualified balanceability instructor teaching children and adults to ride, a national standards instructor teaching Bikeability with my own registered scheme, and a qualified Level 2 coach and ride leader with British cycling. I can help you learn to ride, develop your

skills, or learn how to ride safely on the road. I am fully insured, a member of CTC and British cycling. I am CRB checked and hold a first aid certificate.

It’s been a very busy summer, and lots of children cycling for the first time!

As the days get shorter, lessons will be weekends only and I have spaces available in Nov and Dec. If you’re thinking of a new bike for Christmas, it’s a great time to learn.

Lessons run at Crown wood primary school in Bracknell. It’s £35 for 45 mins 1:1 or £45 for 1 hour shared sibling lessons. Most children learn in one or two lessons. Bikes are available to hire for £5 a session.

Summer is approaching, and it is getting busier again! Over the summer months, I will continue to offer learn to ride for children aged 5+ and on road training for aged 9+. I can only help a limited number of children each week, due to full time work comitments, but will squeeze in everyone as far as I can!

Great opportunity to learn the basics on how to check and maintain your bikes!

We are running a basic bike maintenance course at Pinewood Leisure Centre, Wokingham.

The course will take place from 12.30pm to 3.30pm on Friday, 22 March and costs £10.00 per session.

We will be teaching you how to:

✅ Check your bike
✅ Change an inner tube in the event of a puncture
✅ Clean and oil your bike

The course is aimed at people with little or no bike maintenance knowledge.

You will need to bring your own cleaned bike and an inner tube.

Happy new year everyone! Did anyone get a new bike for Christmas?

I’m hoping to get out on my own bike a bit more this year, but I’ll still be teaching too! If you are thinking of booking, or would like some more advanced/refresher training to get to grips with a new bike, please do get in touch!

I currently have availability at weekends from 13th January onwards, but will be unavailable from 18th Feb to 16th March. With this in mind, the last weekend before my break for new starters will be 3rd-4th Feb. Most children learn in one or two lessons, so this will ensure I am available for a follow up if needed, without too long a gap between lessons!

Lessons take place at Crown Wood Primary school in Bracknell, and it’s £30 for 45 mins 1:1 or £40 for an hour for siblings, or on -road training.

I was nominated for instructor of the year by a very special family that I’ve loved supporting on their cycling journey together. That award will be decided by panel, but a second award, people’s champion is voted for by the public!

Please like, share or comment on the Bikeability post! The post with the most interactions will win! 🥰

My People's Champion is Kelly Koya!

"Kelly Koya is a Bikeability Instructor and founder of Venture Cycling, who has taught hundreds of children to ride a bike for the first time. Kelly’s warm and engaging personality builds rapport with each child, making learning to ride a bike fun and enjoyable. Her dedication has helped many families in the Bracknell area to ride safely and enjoy the outdoors while cycling.
Kelly’s love for cycling started at a later age as she didn’t learn to ride a bike until she was 10 years old. She has come a long way since then and has taken part in a triathlon against Victoria Pendleton, although she was beaten by the Olympian(!)

After developing her skills volunteering with Breeze, Kelly completed the National Standards qualification in 2016. She founded Venture Cycling where she had taught many hundreds of children to ride, as well as delivering Bikeability Level 1, 2 and 3, helping others to ride confidently.
Kelly has received many 5-star reviews for her professional sessions. In 2017, Kelly started coaching with British Cycling, upskilling new Volunteer Cycling Coaches, and supporting more young children to ride. Her knowledge of the mechanics of a bike and techniques to ride well is impressive. She is also an enthusiastic cycling advocate, supportive instructor, and mentor to aspiring cycling coaches."

Shocked, and very honoured to receive this today! I've been very kindly nominated by a family I have worked with several times over the years, and I've been selected as one of three shortlisted nominees! Bikeability sent this:

Someone has informed us of your dedication and commitment cycle training, and we are delighted to celebrate your hard work. This year we received a huge amount of brilliant nominations, and we are pleased to name you as one of our top three nominees. Thank you for all your hard work this year for Bikeability.

Welcome to new likes and followers! I’ve had a few mentions on social media over the past few weeks, and I am responding to new enquiries as quickly as I can.

Lessons run at Crown Wood Primary school in Bracknell at weekends. I work full time Monday- Friday so can only offer a few spaces each Saturday and Sunday, but using a fun, outcome based method, and working 1:1 (unless siblings), progress is fast and most children learn in one or two lessons.

I’m now booking for mid November onwards. Contact via email or messenger is best as I’m often catching up on messages at unsociable hours!

The past few days, I’ve been whizzing around Rome on an e-bike! It may take me a little longer to respond to messages but I am replying where I can and now booking for 22nd July onwards.

It’s been over 7 years since I started in cycling, volunteering with Breeze initially, supporting British Cycling to encourage more women into cycling. Cycling is dominated by white men, males taking 4 times more trips by bike than women. People of colour make up only 7% of regular cyclists in London, and many Black women simply do not learn to cycle as children.

Today, I was delighted to see Feyi cycling around the car park independently, with a new love for the freedom and fun of being on two wheels! I teach people of all ages, abilities and from all backgrounds! It’s never too late to learn and break down those barriers! 🥰🚲

Please, please do let me know if you can’t make your space! At this time of year it’s almost certain I can offer it to someone else, even at short notice and waive any charges.

I’m now booking weekend spaces a month in advance. I work full time during the week, so I really do want to reach as many children as possible during the availability I do have. Thank you! 😘
