🚨 OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT 🚨

Following the RFU’s recent decision to delay the start of the 2026/27 rugby season, the club has issued the following statement:

“Naturally we are disappointed with any delay but player welfare is our primary concern. We are confident the playing surfaces at Castle Park (both grass and artificial) would have been ready, green and forgiving but we recognise many pitches have been adversely impacted by the weather and this would increase risk of injury.”

From our Director of Women’s Rugby, Neil Davies:

“It’s obviously disappointing to delay the start of the season, but player welfare has to come first. The pitches are simply too hard at the moment, and asking players to train and play on them would increase the risk of unnecessary injuries. We want to start the season properly, on pitches that allow our players to perform at their best and, most importantly, enjoy their rugby. A short delay now is a small price to pay for a safe, successful and enjoyable season ahead.”

We’re naturally disappointed to have to wait a little longer to get the 2026/27 season underway, but the welfare and safety of our players will always come first.

We’ll continue to prepare, work hard and build together — ready to go when the season begins. 💪🏉

📣 UPDATED FIXTURE RELEASE 📣

After the recent RFU announcement confirming a delay to the start of the league season, we’ve had a little reshuffle! 🔄

The league campaign will now get underway in late September, giving us a few extra weeks to prepare, build and get this squad firing on all cylinders. 🔥

🔥 NEW SIGNING | SOPHIE DAVIES 🔥

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Sophie Davies to the Doncaster Demons Women’s squad! ❤️💙

Sophie is stepping up into the women’s game after several years coming through the Doncaster Girls pathway, developing her skills, confidence and love for the game along the way. 🏉

She has also had the fantastic opportunity to represent Yorkshire, gaining valuable experience at a high level and showing exactly what she is capable of on the pitch. 💪

Now, she’s ready for the next chapter — and we couldn’t be more excited to have her taking that step with the Demons! 👹

It’s always special to see players who have come through the local girls’ pathway progress into senior women’s rugby, and we’re looking forward to seeing Sophie continue to develop, challenge herself and showcase her talent in a Demons shirt. 🔥

There’s plenty more to come from this one, and we can’t wait to get her out on the pitch! 👀

What a fantastic day of rugby, competition and community. A massive thank you to every team who joined us, battled it out and helped make our very first Demons 10s such a brilliant event.
