The committee, players and members of O’Connell’s GAC extend their deepest sympathies to our former Chairman and dedicated club volunteer, Anthony Rooney, on the passing of his father, Pa**ie.
Pa**ie was a lifelong supporter and servant of our club. Over the years he gave generously of his time in many roles, managing camogie teams, officiating as a camogie referee, and always lending a helping hand whenever needed. In later years, he remained a familiar face around the grounds, assisting with gate duties and supporting club activities.
A devoted supporter of O’Connell’s, Pa**ie rarely missed a match, especially during the years when his four sons proudly wore the club colours. His commitment, generosity and love of Gaelic games left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Beyond his contribution to the club, Pa**ie was a devoted family man, the beloved husband of the late Annie R.I.P., loving father of Paddy, Anthony, Maurice, Maggie (Kelly)and the late Sam (Martin) R.I.P. His dedication to his family and community was evident throughout his life.
We also remember his strong family connections within the club. Pa**ie was the grandfather of current senior player Mickey Kelly, brother-in-law of Malachy McKenna, and grandfather and great-grandfather to many past and present underage players who have proudly represented Tullysaran.
To Anthony, the entire Rooney family circle, and all who mourn Pa**ie’s passing, we offer our heartfelt condolences and support at this difficult time.
